Around RONDA

Advantages: An absolute gem of a town in a stunning location
Disadvantages: Gets very busy...VERY

. The town stops dramatically at the edge of tall, sheer cliffs and you wonder exactly how you'll be able to drive up to it. Actually, it was pretty easy - so much for first impressions. We parked the car very close to the centre of town and strolled off to see the sights. Ronda consists of two very distinct quarters (shouldn't that really be halves?) - the old and the new. Don't get carried away now, the 'new' quarter is mainly 18th century so 'new' is a relative term. The two areas are divided very neatly by a gaping chasm called El Tajo through which the River Guadalevín flows. This, and the 'new' bridge that crosses the gorge is probably one of the most photographed sites in this part of the world. The views down into the gorge are breathtaking and with the buildings clinging precariously on the knife-edge of cliff, it's pretty ...

Walk around Ronda

Advantages: Interesting town
Disadvantages: none

We needed an Easter break so we went to the Andalusian Mountains of Spain. We stayed in accommodation not far away from Ronda. I was very impressed with this town so will tell you about my visit here . Ronda is inland from the Costa del Sol it takes about an hour to drive the113km from Malaga. Ronda is easily accessible by train from Algerciras or Granada and the stations in between. We were lucky and found a place to park the car in one of the streets but there is a car park by the bull ring and some other underground car parks too. We drove to Ronda from the village we were staying in Ronda is a great viewpoint with views of mountains the most fantastic scenery. The narrow gorge, Tajo del Ronda, 150 meters deep runs through the town .The Guadalevin River runs along this gorge. There are three magnificent bridges to span ...
