Advantages: Eating yourself to bursting point in the fully inclusive hotels
Disadvantages: Not much to do and rip off prices

My husband and I were really looking forward to wandering round local markets and picking up unusual souvenirs in the Dominican Republic but, unfortunately, holidays in the Dominican Republic are not for people who want to travel around and experience the country for themselves. We were in an all inclusive, which was just as well, because there was nowhere to go outside the hotel complex. The complex itself was lovely and there were only 2 hours in the day when you couldn't get food (2pm-4pm) which was brilliant. The trips on offer were pretty expensive which meant we couldn't really afford to do many and, if you wanted to hire a taxi you had to find a couple of other folk to go with you as the taxis were really people carriers and it was approximately £50 to hire them for a couple of hours to go to the nearby city of Santo ...

Hotel Don Juan,Magaluf - A pleasant suprise!

Advantages: Well located, friendly staff, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: Evening meal could've been better

chips for breakfast is just wrong!). Most days after breakfast we would then either go out for a walk, go to the local shop to pick up a paper or head back up to the room to put our swimming/beach gear on ready for some sunbathing. The Don Juan has 2 medium sized circular pools and a smaller pool which would be suitable for children as it shallower. There is plenty of sunbathing space with sun loungers laid out around the pools on a sun terrace, this really seemed to catch the sun and both of us have come back with a lovely golden tan. The hotel is just 400m from the local beach so if you don't fancy lying by the pool it only takes about 5-10 minutes to walk there. On the outside of the hotel near to the pools there is a seating area and also a children's play area with climbing frames and a slide perfect for entertaining ...

DON JUAN HOTEL, MAGALUF

Advantages: close to beach
Disadvantages: Can be noisy at night

I thought I would let people know what I thought of this hotel. I work in the Travel Trade so I can be quite critical!!! Well here we go - ************LOCATION*********** This 3* Hotel is only about 400 metres from the beach and is about 500m the heart of Magaluf (a seriously lively resort)on the south west coast of Majorca. Its is not too far from Palma, about 20km and the same to the airport. The transfer took us about 45 mins. It could be shorter or longer, depending on wre you are on the list to be dropped off. **********ROOMS******** Our room was on the 4th of 7 floors. It was centrally heated (although thank goodness it wasn't on). On a negative it didn't have airconditioning and I would say that it was a bit dated.
