Not quite a castle but definitely not a dungeon!

Advantages: Comfortable, good facilities, lovely location
Disadvantages: Service a bit slow

...enjoyed our stay at the Redcastle and I would recommend it, there were no problems having children to stay and other than the slow service in the restaurant I have no complaints. The Redcastle is situated in Donegal and there are plenty of beautiful drives to take, beaches to visit and stunning walks. The total cost for my family was £405.00, this was for 2 nights bed and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children and one evening meal for the adults, ...

NON SMOKERS BEWARE

Advantages: clean bathroom
Disadvantages: all rooms are smoking rooms, dirty carpet, noise from bar heard in room

...and was quite disappointed with the room and the price I paid. I have stayed in many hotels and I have rarely come across a hotel that allows smoking in all rooms. It was quite unpleasant to stay in a room that smelled of stale cigarette smoke and as a result I left feeling that my clothes and hair smelled. The carpet was stained and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. There was a band playing downstairs which was clearly to be heard ...

Warm Irish Hospitality in Donegal

Advantages: Ballybofey central location, family run, comfortable, excellent service
Disadvantages: parking on the street, no minibar in room

I stayed at the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey Co. Donegal last week for 3 nights. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. From the website I found they had all sorts of midweek and weekend deals, many including a meal in their restaurant. I booked for 3 nights B&B, with one meal and a 10% discount voucher for the large department store 50 meters away was thrown in the deal. It worked out £66 per night...unreal price. The room I booked over the telephone ...
...always got a space within 20 meters of the hotel on the main street. Would go back again tomorrow but I think family would get upset if we didnt stay with them if they knew we were coming. Thanks to Villa Rose for a lovely comfortable stay. ...

...& l stayed at the Redcastle Hotel in Co. Donegall overnight on Thursday 9th August 2001. A Grand Stay

Advantages: Clean and friendly, close to golf course and beach, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Not the best looking building you'll ever see, lack of good soundproofing, area under development

...‘tourist’ (can’t stand them myself!). The Strand in Ballyliffin turned out to be a pleasing haven after having gained sore feet and a sore finger (camera usage!) on the trail of tourism. A bit of geography; Ballyliffin is in an area of Ireland called Inishowen in Donegal (that bit that is officially in the south but is geographically in the north – you know what I mean). Inishowen is a peninsula, which has some of the most ...
...near Malin Head, which is the northern most point of Ireland (Northern Ireland included). The Stand Hotel looks to be fairly unextraordinary when you drive up to it. I would say that it looks like a 60’s block of beach apartments, but looks are deceiving in this case. The hotel is tastefully decorated and comprises a lounge, bar and dining room. The rooms are a bit of a mix of styles. They’ve painted the old 70’s furniture white ...
