One word sums up this hotel - Stunning!!
My family and I stayed at this hotel last September on a half board basis and it would say it was complete value for money. We travelled as a party of 5 adults and 4 children. Each family cost £700 for the one week half board stay.
the hotel is relativly new and based at the back end of Salou, away from the buzz but only a 5 - 10 minute walk to get there. It is also situated very near the Fuertaventura theme park. We walked to it when we went.
The hotel itself is spotless. The main entrance is very big but welcoming. The reception area always has at least 2 staff on duty day or night. They sell all the british news papers from early doors as well as magazines and guide books etc.
To the back of the recpetion is the swimming area. There is the main pool which has a life guard present every day till about 6pm when the pool closes. The main pool does not allow inflatables which means there is plenty of room for adults to relax as well as children to have fun. There is a baby pool which does allow inflatables within reason. It is next to the childrens play area so it meant there was a lot of grass floating about from the children playing in the area then coming straight into the pool. The only draw back for the swimming area is that the floor tiles are not non-slip and we witnessed a few sore bums and heads that week. The swimming are also has an eating area which i did not think was very nice. The food was basic - toasties, chips and sandwiches. But it done the job all the same. The swimming area during the day was also the reps rehersal area for the end of week show. Come the end of the week i think everyone at the pool could have played the part in the show themselves.
Bedrooms The bedrooms were lovely. We were sleeping 3 so we had 2 singles and a couch which did turn into a full sized bed for the wee one. Rooms were cleaned every day and we had fresh towels every day too - only if we hung the request out though. My parents were in the room next door to us. Their room was the same except their couch was not pulled out. My sister and her 3 kids were in the next room and i have to say it was rather cramped. She had the 2 singles, the couch pulled out and a chair which turned into a bed too. There was no room to move and they were a bit stuck for space as they only had the one wardrobe too.
Bathrooms were spotless and every balcony had a clothes airer as the hotel has a policy of no towels/clothes hanging over the balcony. It did make the hotel look nicer i have to say.
Food Both breakfast and dinner were buffet option. Breakfast had cereal choices, toast, bread, cooked breakfast items (sausage, egg, hash browns etc). the only drawback was the toasting machines were soooooo slow.
Dinner was different every night. I am a very fussy eater but still found something to eat. Sunday night was roast night, tuesday was italian (all the woman got a rose when leaving), thursday was spanish night. No matter what night it was they always had a childrens buffet too with sausages, fish fingers, chicken dippers, smiley faces etc. Deserts were unlimited - ice cream, jelly, cake, profiterals (sp??), gateau, yogart etc.
Night time entertainment was varied too. One night we had ladyboys, another we had acrobatics, another we had a cabaret, one night was a quiz etc. We were luck enough to have a pool view balcony and as all the entertainment was at the pool area (main reason why pool closed at 6pm) we could put the kids to bed and sit in the veranda to watch what was going on.
This was a superb holiday and i would 100% definatley go back to again. The only draw back is you can't stay in it till May.
Overalli would recommend this hotel to families, couples and singles. It is very clean and friendly and well worth a visit.
Advantages: excellent family resort Disadvantages: a lot of building work still going on
...delighted to find that the Dorado palace aparthotel lived up to its description in the brochure. This aparthotel is a relatively new complex. We stayed in the apartments which are one bedroom and have satellite television. They are cleaned daily and are decorated to a very high standard, although we had booked self catering the restaurant was such good value for money that we often had breakfast and our evening meal there it usually cost about £10-£15 ... ...which catered for all age groups. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and there are security guards evident in the evening to prevent lager louts etc. from entering the apartments. The apartments are located about 10 -15 minutes from the centre of town so we often spent our evenings there. There are numerous places to stop for a bite to eat and many of the pubs do a full english breakfast for those who like the taste of home. The best part ...
