Most people merely seem to think of Dover as a port or a quick stop before catching the ferry, but if you take a moment to linger a little longer, you could be surprised. High above the town is the castle, which is well I think, worth a visit, underground passages are also open, with exhibitions relating to the war period. Down in the town is the White Cliffs Experience, with animated figures from Roman times up to the second World War telling you a little about their lives. You can also experience a street during the Blitz.

The shops are reasonable and parking is easy, there are several car parks in the town, the one way system at times however can be a little confusing.
