History
Dover Priory Train Station was first opened on 22 July 1861. It was originally called Dover Town but was renamed Dover Priory in 1863. The name Dover Priory was taken from the remains of St Martins Priory which was situated close to the station. Dover Priory Train Station suffered greatly during the war and was actually the first place in Dover that was bombed.

Dover Priory
Dover Priory is the only train station in Dover and is located about a 5 minute walk from the town centre of Dover. There is a free shuttle bus which runs from the train station to Dover Docks.

In August 2006 Dover Priory train station was renovated. These renovations included the refurbishment of the station building itself, the booking hall and the toilet facilities. CCTV cameras were installed which now cover the platforms, waiting areas and ticket offices.

Today, after the refurbishment, Dover Priory has two platforms, called Platforms one and two! As you can tell, a lot of thought went into the naming of the platforms. A footbridge connects the two platforms and there is also a lift for wheelchair users.

Inside the station there is a café which serves snacks such as sandwiches etc as well as hot and cold drinks. There is also a section inside the café that sells magazines and books.

The toilet facilities are located on platform one and since the refurbishment they are now clean, and a new disabled toilet has now been installed.

The ticket office is just inside the entrance to the station and there is also an information desk where you can enquire about the various tickets on offer.

Finally, there is a car park at the front of the station and there is a charge for using this, £3.50 to park all day which is very reasonable. You will find that the station car park is usually quite full seeing as the parking is so cheap, many people use it!

Very nice review! Glad you included a bit of history; something I adore! I never knew it was the first place there to get bombed! Amy xx
