I had a flat to furnish, but next to no money. So I purchased my furniture from car boot sales, charity shops and the like. The result was a hodge-podge mishmash style of materials and colours that lacked all harmony. I decided to paint the furniture in one colour.
The only type of paint I found that was suitable for both metallic and wooden surfaces, previously painted or not, was 'Non-drip gloss for interior use'.
I had meant to get something discreet and natural, such as terracotta. But once in the DIY store, surrounded by thousands of pots of paint, I grew bold, and picked a rich red.
I considered a spray paint, but when I read how tiny a surface each expensive spraycan covered, I decided against it.

I have this place in the middle of my face

now this might sound silly but when it turns chilly
