by two stunning golf courses and sits on the estate of Sir Thomas Wentworth's landholdings from the 1600s. Part of the Druids Glen Golf Resort, the Druids Glen Marriott Hotel is ideally located just 30 minutes south of Dublin in County Wicklow, nestledbetween the Irish Sea and the magnificent Wicklow mountains. The Dublin Airport is an hour away by car. The three storey Marriott features 148 well appointed guestrooms including 11 suites. The hotel also provides an 18 meter indoor swimming pool, full service health spa, and seven meeting rooms to accommodate up to 130 people. The hotel houses two restaurants and a bar: the Druids Restaurant featuring international cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Flynn's Steakhouse serving prime Irish steaks for dinner only; and The Thirteenth Bar, which overlooks the golf course. Beyond the outstanding accommodations, the main attraction at the Druids is the golf courses: the parkland Druids Glen Course, and the Druids Heath championship course. Known as ''the Augusta of Europe,'' the parkland Druids Glen golf course was designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock and has been home to the Irish Open from 1996 99. A complete contrast in design, the Druids Heath is a challenging course and offers golfers spectacularviews of the mountains, sea and Irish countryside. The Druids Resort also includes a historical clubhouse, the Woodstock House. Dating back over 400 years, the clubhouse is filled with memorabilia from previous owners including the infamous Lord Tottenham. The clubhouse includes meeting rooms, dining facilities and a pro shop. For those not interested in golf, the Druids Glen Marriott Hotel serves as an ideal base to explore County Wicklow, the ''Garden of Ireland.'' Nearby activities includes hiking, angling, horse riding, cycling and rock climbing.

Advantages: Nice hotel in a brilliant location Disadvantages: Quite expensive.
The Marriott Druids Glen hotel is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Ireland and I would recommend it to anyone if they are seeking a quiet, peaceful holiday. The location is wonderful, with views of the sea and mountains, it was a dream location and one that I will never forget.
Check-in was simple and easy and all of the staff were friendly and happy to help in whatever way that they could. All of my details were right ... ... The bedrooms were large, modern and clean. The bathroom had the usual toiletries, which were of a good quality, although a couple more would have been good considering it was a 2 Queen bed room sleeping three. The hotel was quiet, and although it appeared as though occupancy rates were high the hotel didn't feel overcrowded or cramped.

Check-in was simple and easy and all of the staff were friendly and happy to help in whatever way that they could. All of my details were right and I was quickly given my keycard.

The hotel was quiet, and although it appeared as though occupancy rates were high the hotel didn't feel overcrowded or cramped.
The hotel also has a golf course and although I am not a golfer myself it looked like a good course! The hotel is fairly spread out, although not massive, some of the rooms had balconies, mine didn't but I am guessing that's as it wasn't a suite.
If you are at the hotel don't forget to go to the restaurant the food is amazing and the restaurant staff are so nice and friendly! The menu has plenty of options and is well thought out, you really must try the Irish Stew! The prices in the restaurant are high although its worth it in my opinion, on the night I had a meal there a pianist was playing and it made the experience even more relaxing.
I had a rented car, which meant that is was easy to drive into the nearby town of Greystones which has a train station which is served by the DART meaning it's easy to get into Dublin for the day. Dublin itself is a nice city, although I was glad to be able to hop back on the train and stay in a hotel that was out of the way a bit in the peace and quiet.
The hotel pool is brilliant and a really nice size, the hotel also has a sauna and steam room, it was brilliant to be able to come back to the hotels in the evening and just relax!
For a five night stay it was about £1000, I do think that its worth it as I will never forget how brilliant my stay was and hope to go back soon, the staff go out of there way to be helpful and the hotel provides a luxurious stress free stay.
