The Burj Al Arab
Advantages: Read Opp Disadvantages: Price
...magnificent and luxury hotel the Burj Al Arab. I was lucky enough to spend two nights at this hotel during New Years Eve and New Years day 2008/2009. I had a friend who’s dad did a tone of import export business and thus I even managed to stay their for free, yes that’s right for free, under the condition that I paid for all my own food, and drink, which I was more than happy to at the time. Now everyone has either heard about this hotel, been their ... ...Background Information:
So The Burj Al Arab is located in Dubai, which is in the United Arab of Emirates, about a 7 hour flight from London. The hotel is the second tallest building in the World, which is used as a hotel. The hotel itself is built around an artificial island 280 m (920 ft) out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the main land via a private bridge. The hotel started construction in 1994, and took only four years for the construction ...

Outstanding quality and service
Advantages: Great location, very good quality and family friendly Disadvantages: Price: can be a little heavy, but you get what you pay for
Well what can i say, there is probably too much to write about JBH so i will try and keep it fairly short and sweet.
Firstly, the flight to Dubai isn't too bad, around 7 hours which isn't that bad compared to other holidays i've been on and if there is good in-flight entertainment you will be well and truly satisfied.
Next, you arrive at the wonderful airport in Dubai, and because we paid a little extra, we had a JBH employee meet and greet us ... ...through security! We then went outside into the blisteringly warm heat to be greeted by a JBH escort car (an AUDI A8) in which they provided us with cold bottles of water and face cloths. It was celebrity style treatment!
When we arrived at the hotel after the 20-minute car journey, we went into the lobby area and were greeted by almost every employee. They were the most friendly staff I've ever encountered!
The hotel is fantastic quality and they ...

Nice if you're not impatient!
Advantages: Convenient for town, lots of restaurants, use of a beach club Disadvantages: Delays at check-in and check-out, long wait for lifts
...somewhere more central.
The Crowne Plaza is located on Sheikh Zayed road, on a strip of office blocks, hotels, shops and restaurants and is very central, ten to fifteen minutes from the beach, from the Deira and Karama shopping areas, and the airport, so very convenient for all. I've stayed here about ten times between 2000 and 2003.
AIRPORT The Crowne Plaza has a meet and greet service at the airport as do most hotels. It is worth using as it ... ...is full size. The usual Crowne Plaza amenities of shower gel, shampoo, soap, flannels are there plus a hairdryer, TWO toilet rolls (the end of both folded into points of course) and a separate box of tissues. Even for single occupancy you get two hand towels and three bath towels. In the mornings you find an english language newspaper hanging on your door, which is a nice touch. (I assume that Arab guests have a local paper). Just once, I was upgraded ...

Shangri la ( Dubai) , EXQUISITE
Advantages: great location from which to explore Dubai. complimentary bus service. Disadvantages: beach is a bus ride away.
...cuisine), Shang Palace – Shangri La’s signature restaurant (dim sum, traditional Cantonese), Hoi An (Vietnamese cuisine with a French influence), Balcony Bar (fine liqueurs, wines and cigars), Marrakech (authentic Moroccan cuisine), Amwaj (trendy spot with local dishes and fresh seafood).
However, we ate out most days, as we preferred to venture out in the evening and check the rest of the city out, but if room service is anything to go by, I would ... ...complement bus service which, as well as going to Jebel Ali, goes to Wafi City Complex (Shopping, Planet Hollywood, many restaurants and bars.) and Deira Shopping Centre. On the whole I was very impressed with this hotel. It is definitely worth its 5 star deluxe rating, the service and facilities were excellent and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a great location from which to explore Dubai city. ...

Central to everything
Advantages: Location, Service, breakfast Disadvantages: Businessman hotel rather than tourist, not for families
...district of Deira.
The Novotel is central to everything!
If you are a business traveller and need access to the world trade center/ exhibtion center then there is only one other hotel which is as close and that is the ibis. Novotel actually has direct access into the Exhibition centre next to hall 8.
The rooms are on a par with the high end 4 stars that you will find in London and the service is impecable. Services include.
T.V. (Some satelite ... ...Iron and Ironing board facitity
Laundry service (chargable)
Tea coffee making facilities
Phone
Internet access (Chargable)
Although the location is central you will invariably need a taxi to go anywhere as Dubai is not a foot friendly city. That said taxi's are cheap enough with most places reachable for about 35dhs.

Emirates towers (10 mins Walk)
Exhibition centre WTC (1 mins walk)
