Advantages lots of displays and exhibits, great fun day out for the family, hologramic displays

Disadvantages none, you can spend hours here and not get bored

Whenever I travel to a new place and especially when I am travelling with my children I love to go to the museum to find out the country in questions background and history. It makes both an informative trip and fun day out for the whole family to enjoy.

On our second day in Dubai we went to the Dubai Museum. It is actually based inside the ruins of Al Fahidi Fort. The fort was built in 1787 and has since been restored to such an extent that the countries history and heritage is portrayed beautifully. The fort was opened as a museum in 1971. The museum has a vast array of collections and exhibits providing an interesting insight into the countries history.

Outside of dubai museum
There are exhibits on display to get the enthusiast really involved such as the hands-on exhibit which allows for you to touch the objects on display and observe more closely. Then there are the artistic displays and for those of you that like scientific and futuristic elements there are also the hologram displays that give visual effects in movie form. There are also lots of information cases that allows for you to explore the museum and its highlights at your own pace. The museum has all the information for customers from the third millenium B.C to present day. For information and an insight into the lives of people living in Dubai hundreds of years ago the museum has life size and realistic dioramas. These show the typical homes and businesses that people of that time had. They guide you through what life was like for them from their daily activities to religious customs and costumes they used to wear and also how the sea has influenced the lives of people in Dubai for centuries and how it was an important necessity. Other displays are that of documents and artefacts that have since been discovered by archaeologists. Proving that Dubai is a place that has yet to be discovered. The museum shows how Dubai has evolved into the bustling tax free port we know today and how this was achieved.
There is no admission fee to this museum which is even better.
