Dont Hit Saint Marnock On The Head

Advantages: See text of opinion
Disadvantages: See text of opinion

...already read my opinion about Portmarnock Golf Club, one of the oldest and most respected links golf courses here in Dublin, with a history stretching back to 1894. The Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links is a relatively new course that is on the same stretch of sandy dune land as its more illustrious neighbour, and which opened for play in 1995, just over a 100years after the original ‘old course’. ~ ~ It’s on land that was a monastery ...
...eleven holes that have gained Portmarnock Links its growing, and well-deserved, reputation in golfing circles. ~ ~ The 8th hole is a delightful little par-4, measuring a paltry (by today’s standards) 376 yards of the Championship tee. (355 yards in normal play) It’s an acute dogleg to the left, with a ninety-degree turn in the fairway, and herein lies its charm. A big hitter can reach the green with no more than a long iron, if they ...

Delightful Dublin

Advantages: Tourists from everywgere congregate here
Disadvantages: Busy

Temple Bar is situated directly south of the river Liffey and is in the heart of Dublin life. Tourists from all over the world congregate in the pubs and bars, making the streets constantly alive, making it nearly impossible to venture into a public house after 8pm. If it’s action you want this is the place, with a constant buzz of street performers combined with the immediate recognizable Irish music coming from open windowed pubs. In the ...

Want a real bra? Head to a real lingerie shop

Advantages: none noted
Disadvantages: no real bras on sale

Dunnes has been called the biggest seller of lingerie in Ireland - but if you want to buy a bra with no padding, you will not find anything of interest in their Dublin shops. Yes, it seems that all women of all size and shapes apparently want padded bras according to the lingerie purchasing department at Dunnes, notwithstanding the fact that many (most?) women are not interested in making their breasts look larger (although more shapely might be ...
...pretty standard bra size (34 C), I was shocked to find that the only bras on sale without padding in that or any size there-abouts were sports bras. Who is purchasing for this shop? If it is a woman (and I hope it is), she obviously has some issues re. real breasts, but why this should become part of a totally lop-sided sales strategy is beyond me. Most women have breasts, and they want to buy bras of all types - sport, day-to-day, sexy etc - that ...

I sent money by bank transfer to Brown Thomas bank account and then they sent me a chloe paddington bag to my home in France. but, bag was faulty. Normaly, there is [ Chloe MADE IN ITALY ] logo inside the bag on the leather parts. but in this bag, there was [ hloe DE IN ITALY ] logo. it was actualy whole letter ...
...the market. so, I contacted Brown Thomas and asked for refund. Floor Manager for Handbags in Brown Thomas said I have to return this bag by post. and I have to take this bag to the nearest post office, but I am working and very busy , and I do not have time to go to post office. so I said to Brown Thomas , I have to use UPS to pick up this bag at my place as I do not have time to do this and the cost of the shipping was 40 euro. Floor Manager for ...

When in Dublin.... head for St James Gate

Advantages: Fantastic views with a glass of the black stuff in your hand
Disadvantages: None

GUINESS BREWERY & MUSEUM DUBLIN I am rather partial to a drop of the blackstuff, so when my son arranged a weekend break for my good lady wife and my self to Dublin, I had to visit the Guiness Brewery and Museum. Now perhaps I am biased, but this was one of the best tours I've taken. St James Gate is the entrance to the brewery; the gate is enormous, with big letters spelling out its name. A real photo opportunity. The brewery looks ...
...of the processes by which Guiness is brewed. There was no tour guide, you simply follow arrows and work your way up the floors to the top of the building, it was very self explanatory. This isn't actually a brewery now but a mixed concept of museum-theme park-bar it, was extremely interesting, I learnt a lot about the history and brewing of Guiness. I really liked the fact that you could take it all at your own pace. After going up the final glass ...
