Let Howth be your oyster
Advantages: Seals; seafood; very pretty and interesting; close to Dublin Disadvantages: Can get very busy
...Cranberries all have homes in Howth, while previous residents include Conor Cruise O'Brien, Phil Lynott and none other than twice Eurovision winner Johnny Logan. As we walked further we picked out our favourite houses in between greeting other walkers. With its crags and cliffs and seaside paths, Howth is a popular destination for ramblers and hikers, understandably so as it combines stunning scenery with moderately challenging terrain; once you ... ...rewarded with some great views of the Wicklow Hills. HG Wells described what he saw as "'The finest view west of Naples" - and I'm inclined to agree. In the village of Howth there are lots of examples of the traditional painted stone cottages so typical of Ireland but there are also as many imposing Georgian residences of the kind so popular for Irish picture postcards subjects. You don't need to be an expert to be able to chart Howth's history; ...

Haunted Dublin Walking Tour
Advantages: hilariously funny Disadvantages: very costly - for a less expensive ghost tour see www.hiddendublinwalks.com
I did the Haunted Dublin walking tour with hidden dublin walks last week. It was highly enjoyable, I had previously done the Ghost bus which was really funny but not very scary and as I hadn't had my fill of scary I decided to go and do this tour which was much cheaper than the ghost bus and was fantastic!! I learnt a lot about Ireland's culture of the otherworld at the same time as being scared silly along the path. I recommend both tours but the ...

Will we make it on time
Advantages: helpfull drivers Disadvantages: not turning up on time
Dublin Bus is the main bus company in Dublin, it covers the majority of the inner city services, including the airlink bus and the city tour bus.
The Dublin bus office is based on Upper O'Connell street which all buses that go into the city centre stop on.. The office is open from 08:30 - 17:30 Monday and 09:00 -17:30 Tue - Fri. Its only open half day on Saturdays and closed Sundays and public holidays. The office its self is quite easy to navigate ... ...you are staying over in Dublin I would recommend validating your ticket later in the day so you can use the bus ticket over 2 days and that way you don't feel you are on buses all day! The total tour takes on average 1.5hours, however most people use the tour to get to popular destinations and hop on and hop off throughout. The buses are very clean and the top decks are open top which can get pretty blustery but well worth it if you can cope with ...

getting home at night
Advantages: Good nitelink service Disadvantages: not enough taxis
I've been visiting Dublin regularly for the last 7 years as my partner is from the fair city. Although it is very difficult to get a taxi home after a night out in the city, as demand far outstrips availabilty, there is a good nitelink bus service. I can only refer to the service we use, which is from the city centre to Lucan/ Celbridge; villages to the west of the city. The bus service runs til around 4am, and costs around E5 (as far as I can remember). ...

Top of the morning to you
Advantages: Friendly people Disadvantages: Bad weather
...however I don't think that Dublin has a lot to entertain children and families apart from...
Dublin zoo was a great place for kids it has a safari park ride, a bus that takes you all around the park. It also has the biggest animals I have ever seen, like a huge Hippo and Gorilla. Great fun for kids. This is right next to phoneix park, a really big park where you can run around and it also has a kids playground. Also in the park is an obelisk with ... ...also available in Dublin but I would advise booking prior to your journey as we found ourselves dissappointed.
Transport, you can get a bus to almost anywhere from the airport, if you go to the bus ticket depot inside the airport the ladies are very friendly and always ofer you the cheapest rot. However bus journeys can be long, alternative travel is The Dart (Train) from the city centre.
The city centre starts of at O conell St which reminds me ...
