Grand Canal Hotel Dublin
Advantages: Good restraunt, good location Disadvantages: bathroom fan has no 'off' switch
First the advice. If you are going to use this hotel (a 3* hotel) the best way to get to it is using the air-coach which goes from Dublin airport every 20 min or so. The stop you want is the 'school house hotel' The grand canal hotel is then just a short walk away. The air coach is far cheaper than taking a taxi (could be as much as €30 cheaper) and it's quicker. One of the hotels big advantages (could be seen as a disadvantage by some). It is about ... ...area of the city, so this means it is fairly quiet at night. However this also means that it is quite a distance from the big tourist attractins such as the Guinnes store house and the Jameson distillery. The rooms are large, well decorated, double glazed, clean, are all on suite and as you would expect are serviced daily. The only problem with the room is that the extractor fan in the bathroom is on constantly and it can be quite loud. The rooms ...

The Ardmore Hotel, Dublin
Advantages: Bargain price. Disadvantages: Slightly too far from town if you're interested in a long term stay.
...the terrible reviews for the Ardmore hotel i was really rather skeptical about staying there.
I booked for two nights on the 8th july for me and my girlfriend and i was on edge throughout the whole journey because of the reviews that i had read.
However, the journey from the airport was a rapid one and one that didn't break the bank! We were welcomed to the hotel with a smile, the only problem with checking in was that we had to wait until 12 to ... ...This was understandable though and couldn't be helped.
Although the hotel is situated 2.5 miles from th city centre it really isnt that far. It is a pleasant walk through a few towns (if youve got the time that is) and we enjoyed it a lot.
Alternatively you could catch the bus...this was an experience for us. I warn you that Irish buses require the exact fee for the journey (to the city centre it is €1.70 per person to the city centre).
The bedroom ...

Well worth stay at Jurys Inn!
Advantages: The Location Disadvantages: Lighting in room, view
...making we finally chose the Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.
The reviews that we read were the best we had seen and there wasn't anything that could give you a major concern. It was also recommended to me by some work friends that had previously stayed there and I was assured that the rooms were nicely decorated and clean.
The cost--> We went at the beginning of August during the week and we paid 122 euros per night, room only which was around £83 (there ... ...definitely not as good as Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.
Ease of getting there--> Getting to the hotel from the airport was very easy, I would suggest the air-link bus, as I believe it's called. It costs 6 euros, we bought our ticket from a machine while queuing as we didn't know if they would accept notes and if they were able to change them as I had read the 'normal' everyday buses don't carry change and that if you need change the driver gives you ...

Handy For Sunday Services (Or Temple Bar!)
Advantages: Very centrally located, good standard 3-star hotel with reasonable prices Disadvantages: A bit noisy if you get a front facing room
This Jury's Inn, one of three in Dublin city, is ideally located for accessing the city centre, as are all Jury's Dublin Inns) It's situated in Christchurch Place, about 5 minutes walk from the drinking dens of Temple Bar (heh, heh) and Grafton Street (the main shopping area) and College Green. (Trinity College and the Central Bank) Dublin Castle is about one minute's walk and the Guinness Hop Store, the single most visited tourist attraction in ... ...walk away.
It's also directly opposite Christchurch Cathedral, and just around the corner from St. Patrick's Cathedral. So you're ideally located whatever your preference; a night on the tiles, followed by a Sunday service the following morning to confess your sins of the night before. Mind you, both the city's main Cathedrals are of the Protestant persuasion, so probably don't go in for confession. (But that's another story!)
This hotel is another ...

Trinity Capital
Advantages: Quirky, friendly, location. Disadvantages: next door to fire station
This hotel was absolutely fab!! The decor was quirky, it was in a great location and would definitely stay again.
Food - Breakfast good, full english including black and white pudding. Not a huge choice of cereals or pastries but enough to satisfy.
Service - All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Bedrooms - Standard double was of an ok size. Bed was big and comfortable. Very clean, maids came in daily to tidy, change towels and sheets. ... ...other hotels I have stayed in).
Location - In the centre of Dublin close enought to walk to Grafton street and Temple Bar but far away enough to not hear the noise!! There is a fire station next door but you don't really hear much from this. There are a couple of local pubs on the next road to the hotel that are worth a visit. Spar located just 1 min walk from hotel.
Bar/Restaurant - Lovely furniture and terraces to sit in peace and privacy.
Overall ...
