Not great.
Advantages: location Disadvantages: rude staff, lack of correct information, poor facilities, price
On the website it stated that check-in was at 2pm. However, a very abrupt receptionist stated that it was actually 3pm and that she was 'fed up of websites telling lies about the hotel'. Surely it's up to the hotel to put the websites in question right? Her attitude was appalling, and after waiting in a poky reception area we were eventually let into our room at 2.45pm-the rude receptionist seemed to think she was doing us a favour!
When we got ... ...and we were eventually given the wrong one, so the TV had to be operated manually. Unbelieveably the TV remotes for each room seemed to be held at reception-I have never encountered such a strange practice before in any hotel I've stayed in!
Before leaving at 12pm as per hotel rules, we had a barrage of cleaners actually waiting outside our room and looking at their watches waiting for us to go!
The only things in the hotel's favour were the close ...

NOT the Irish Fawlty Towers
Advantages: not expensive, location, easy walking distance to tourist attractions Disadvantages: over a night club-rooms at front are quite noisy
We booked this hotel room through Octopus travel (see my earlier op on this way to book hotels- it's very good-and easy to do)
The directions given by Octopus were easy to follow and we arrived after walking through Dublin in good time to have a rest and then get ready to go out on the town. It's to the south of the city centre, just off St Stephens Green. Easy walking distance from all of the attractions. SO -WHAT'S IT LIKE?
ON arrival, the hotel ... ...the block of Georgian terraced houses, and it looks fairly plain outside. You do have to look carefully to see the hotel sign. Pull open the door and walk into reception- what a surprise after the plain exterior! Ornate ceiling, plush wallpaper, soft comfortable seating and soft deep pile carpets..and a very friendly receptionist.
Gettting upstairs is an adventure. There is a lift or stairs but the floors are all higgledy piggledy, and the first ...

Stamping in Dublin
Advantages: In the very centre of Dublin, Reasonable Prices, Excellent Room service Disadvantages: Noisey in rooms ove weekend, No car park
We recently stayed at LaStampa, 35 Dawson Street, Dublin. The Hotel is located right in the heart of Dublin, within easy walking of St Stephens Green, Grafton St and Temple Bar. The hotel is a 4 star hotel and has 29 rooms. It is easy to miss the hotel unless you actually know where it is. Located on Dawson street it is surrounded by Dublin cafe culture. The building is fairly old but is going through major incremental renovations. The building is ... ...to the reception. The staff were excellent, taking over immediately from this point, with a porter quickly taking bags and escorting you to you bedroom. Unfortunately you have to go down through the bar to get to the lifts to the rooms.
On getting into the rooms we were absolutely won over with the standard of the rooms. The rooms were of a very high standard with natural wood products and modern soft furnishing. This was a romantic weekend, and ...

In the footsteps of Joyce...apparently
Advantages: Reasonably priced in "standard", quieter location, Disadvantages: Could have been cleaner, possible noise from DART
...through lastminute.com threw up the North Star Hotel, billed as a three star hotel and situated close to the city’s main coach station and opposite Connolly train station. We were able to secure a price of £107 for a standard double room for two nights which was a decent saving on the hotel website's full price of approximately £126 .
I need to mention now that the hotel has several grades of accommodation and we chose the most basic. Next up the ... ...My first impression of the North Star was very favourable although I was secretly on the lookout for tell-tale signs that the hotel was “all fur coat and no knickers”. I had already made up my mind that the hotel must be like that London budget Hotel the “Regent Palace” which has a rather showy reception area but fades as soon as you get onto the staircases and plummets once you get into the rooms. The hotel is typically Irish in appearance, looking ...
