Handy, Well Located 3 Star Hotel
Advantages: Well located 3 Star budget hotel. Fairly cheap by Dublin standards. Disadvantages: Not a lot!
The Mespil Hotel is located on the Royal Canal on Mespil Road in Ballsbridge, only about 15 minutes walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street (the two main shopping areas of the city) and about 20 minutes from O'Connell Street and the Temple Bar area.
In a previous incarnation the Mespil was a large office block that housed the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. The transformation to a hotel took place in the early 1990's, and has been achieved ... ...a longer stay then the Mespil also has some fine two-bedroom apartments that are suitable for either couples or families.
The bar is OK, as is the restaurant, which my wife and I have used on a couple of occasions, once for an evening meal and once for a bar lunch. The food was fine without being memorable (my steak was a wee bit tough) and the prices reasonable. About Euro30 for dinner and Euro10 to Euro15 for a bar lunch, obviously depending on ...

Well worth stay at Jurys Inn!
Advantages: The Location Disadvantages: Lighting in room, view
...making we finally chose the Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.
The reviews that we read were the best we had seen and there wasn't anything that could give you a major concern. It was also recommended to me by some work friends that had previously stayed there and I was assured that the rooms were nicely decorated and clean.
The cost--> We went at the beginning of August during the week and we paid 122 euros per night, room only which was around £83 (there ... ...definitely not as good as Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.
Ease of getting there--> Getting to the hotel from the airport was very easy, I would suggest the air-link bus, as I believe it's called. It costs 6 euros, we bought our ticket from a machine while queuing as we didn't know if they would accept notes and if they were able to change them as I had read the 'normal' everyday buses don't carry change and that if you need change the driver gives you ...

Great Hotel - Great Location
Advantages: Location, Price Disadvantages: Rooms a bit stuffy!
I came across the Paramount Hotel after what seemed like hours trawling websites for a good a good hotel deal in Dublin in August. This was no mean feat! Whilst many comparable hotels were charging upwards of £70 per person per night. The Paramount charged a mere £35! I obviously did my research prior to booking as the deal appeared too good to be true. The Hotel is situated at the edge of Dublin's popular Temple District, home to lively night life, ... ...tourists. The hotel itself has it's own Turks Head Bar & Restaurant. The bar gets extremely busy although I found this less so than other bars/pubs closer to the centre. There is a pub across the road, this was much quieter and preferable if you actually want to get served! The hotel is decorated in 1930's style and has 64 en suite rooms. Our room was fairly large, very clean and towels, tea/coffee making facilities were replenished daily. The tv ...

In the footsteps of Joyce...apparently
Advantages: Reasonably priced in "standard", quieter location, Disadvantages: Could have been cleaner, possible noise from DART
...through lastminute.com threw up the North Star Hotel, billed as a three star hotel and situated close to the city’s main coach station and opposite Connolly train station. We were able to secure a price of £107 for a standard double room for two nights which was a decent saving on the hotel website's full price of approximately £126 .
I need to mention now that the hotel has several grades of accommodation and we chose the most basic. Next up the ... ...My first impression of the North Star was very favourable although I was secretly on the lookout for tell-tale signs that the hotel was “all fur coat and no knickers”. I had already made up my mind that the hotel must be like that London budget Hotel the “Regent Palace” which has a rather showy reception area but fades as soon as you get onto the staircases and plummets once you get into the rooms. The hotel is typically Irish in appearance, looking ...
