The Viking Experience is a bizarre museum with a certain attitude. It uses an excavation of a Viking settlement as its centrepiece. You journey back in time in a longboat which sails down into the settlement accompanied by a mad viking with a loud voice and authentic, low tech special effects (take an anorak !). The settlement is populated with real vikings who pressgang you into service with the town. I found the whole experience fascinating, but the real winners are kids who will be spellbound. Watch out for the monk, because I think he was overfond of the sauce and the viking girls meself.
