I visited Dublin at New Year. Whilst it was certainly a fun place to be it was very very cold. This meant that walking around outside was not much fun, so we ended up spending a large amount of time in pubs and bars of which there are plenty. If you like drinking then Dublin is the place to be as there are lots of really lively, friendly bars and the licensing hours means places stay open later.
However on a cultural level there is less to see, its a fairly standard small working European city not that much different than anything that we have here in the UK. The Guinness Museum is definitely worth seeing if only for the view from the bar at the top but other than that there is nothing more of real interest. I imagine it would be a nicer in the summer for a long weekend as its a nice relaxed atmosphere but I think after 3 days it might be better to explore some of the rural regions of Ireland which certainly are very beautiful.
I would recommend that you dont go in the winter unless you like very cold weather!

I think on a cultural level it has so much more than the Guiness Brewery.
I have only visited once but intend to return and enjoy the place for longer.
