Ireland and in particular Dublin is changing. No more the backward reserved country it once was it now has some of the best Gay facilities and attractions of anywhere in the UK.

Staying In Dublin
Dublin has three main gay guest houses. Frankies, The Horse and Carriage and The Inn on the Liffey. All are small and it has to be said not up to the standard of the prices they charge. On the plus side all are central and within easy walking distance of the main shopping areas. If I had to be forced to make a recommendation I would go for Frankies- the cleanest and most friendly of them all. On the plus side for the other two they do have sauna clubs attached, though The Horse and Carriage's sauna could do with a real clean-up.

Pubs and Clubs
The main gay bar is the George on Dame Street and is really made up of two parts. There is the quieter side (Affectionally known as 'jurassic park') and the club side. Well worth a visit especially for a drink and rest during your shopping. The Front Lounge is a mixed bar though very good on a Saturday afternoon for a quiet relaxed drink. Gets quite gay on a Saturday night however.

Saunas
There are 4 gay saunas in Dublin. The best being the Boilerhouse, clean, friendly and well laid out. The Vortex, a realtively new one is in a more dubious part of the city but caters more for the leather and fetish scene. Stay clear of Incognito (attached to the Horse and Carriage) it is tired, dirty and only worth a visit if you are staying in the guest house. The Dock (attached to the Inn on the Liffey) is likewise only worth a visit if you are staying in the guest house.

Shopping
There is one main gay shop called Basic Instinct catering for all tastes. One small piece of advice though, before you purchase anything check out 'Miss Tique' across the road- a sraight shop but very friendly and helpful and for most things much cheaper.
