I spent the last 12 months working in Co.Dublin and probably had the best year of my life. I'm only 20 and it was the first time I have been away from home for this length of time and was made to feel like part of very big family straight away. I was working in the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf links which is in between the city centre and the airport and is a fantastic location for a golf weekend or a short trip to Dublin. With airlines such as Ryanair offering cheaper and cheaper air fares from a number of U.K. airports Dublin and Ireland seems to be the place to go for a short break. I would strongly recommend not only the Portmarnock Hotel(see my op, for further details) but Dublin in general. There are a wide range of things to do in Dublin and i'm sure there is something for everyone, whether in be a stag party with the lads (Temple Bar) A cultural trip (James Joyce and Guinness tours) or a weekend away with the husbands credit card (Grafton Street) The only thing I regret about my time in Ireland was not exploring the country further, as I was told about some fantastic places especially across on the west coast. If you are unfamiliar with Dublin, Temple Bar is one of the main areas in the city centre, which is full of shops, bars, traditional pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants and loads more. No matter what time of day you visit temple bar the streets are always full of people enjoying themselves, and it wouldn't be a trip to Dublin with out a visit. This is only a short description of my time and experiences in Dublin, I could go on for ages, if anyone would like to contact me about this subject I will be happy to answer any questions or give advice at robbiescrossland@hotmail.com or pop a note in my guest book. I would also be interested to know if any of you are planning trips, or have just recently been to the Countries capital.

Advantages: pubs and bars stay open late and plenty of choice, can walk everwhere. Disadvantages: very cold in winter, not much to do beyond the drinking
