Dublin is one of the most friendly, laid back places I have had the pleasure of knowing. Asides the fantastic development of Temple Bar area which is now like an Irish Covent Garden, the shopping is good, the sightseeing is interesting and the Guinness is like nothing I have ever tasted especially when being lucky enough to be in a lock-in. For accomodation, try to get a booking into the Jury's budget hotels - 4/5 people can share a room only at a fixed price per night and then you're free to eat whatever and wherever - go for a hearty breakfast with Soda Bread and Potato Bread - without feeling that you are tied down to a hotel. Final word, the people are very friendly and becoming more and more cosmopolitan as the years pass, treat them as equals and you will never be short of a pint or a friend.
