We went to Ireland for half term with our three year old and had a great time however I don't think that Dublin has a lot to entertain children and families apart from... Dublin zoo was a great place for kids it has a safari park ride, a bus that takes you all around the park. It also has the biggest animals I have ever seen, like a huge Hippo and Gorilla. Great fun for kids. This is right next to phoneix park, a really big park where you can run around and it also has a kids playground. Also in the park is an obelisk with a picture of the battle of waterloo. Horse riding is also available in Dublin but I would advise booking prior to your journey as we found ourselves dissappointed. Transport, you can get a bus to almost anywhere from the airport, if you go to the bus ticket depot inside the airport the ladies are very friendly and always ofer you the cheapest rot. However bus journeys can be long, alternative travel is The Dart (Train) from the city centre. The city centre starts of at O conell St which reminds me of the west end it has a parade of statues but is curenlty under reconstruction. St Stephens Square has some excelent shop such as topshop, marks and spencer, mis selfridge, al your high stret brands for the mad shopper. Food is exactly like london and everywhere is reasonably priced

Disadvantages: Bad weather. Surely this isn't the same all year round?
