If you ever go to Jamaica, this is a definate must go!! It must be one of the most famous attractions in Jamaica. I visited Jamaica last year for a week and the Dunn's River Falls was by far the single most amazing experiences I have ever fulfilled. After an hour trip with a mini bus full of people from our stay at Montego Bay, we finally arrived at Dunn's River Falls. We started off at the foot of the falls where we had to start our journey hand in hand up the river falls in the formation of girl, boy. There are allocated camera men for each party of people who will film your whole journey up the river falls, so at the end you are able to purchase a DVD of your journey to take home to remind you of the experience. I will admit there is quite a strong current and the some rocks are very slippery so you MUST be careful to ensure your safety. There are staff to help you if you trip or slip or cant keep balance so I wouldn't worry and also the way you are all holding hands, you get more balance and you can help eachother up. There are also points where if you feel the falls are beating you, you can always stop and climb the stairs for a quick exit. Its fantastic. I will admit it looks scary from the bottom but once you reach the top you feel renewed, energized and given a great sense of success.
It is brilliant! Its a beautiful setting and looks even better than any picture. If you ever go, make sure you take a water proof camera! =]
WARNING! This experience is not for people who are not capable of long journeys, heart problems, younger than 8 or who would not be able to cope against the strong current.

Advantages: Everything - its an amazing place! Disadvantages: None that we encountered, although we heard it wasn't safe to venture out into Negril on your own.
