This is definately one not to be missed whilst in Jamaica.
We really enjoyed the catamarancruise that "cool runnings" provided to this destination. On the way out, you could jump off the boat and snorkel on the reef, then once you arrived at Dunn's river falls it was time to climb!
At first I thought that I would stand and watch, but I really wanted to try the climb and found that I managed pretty easily when following my own rules.
You are asked to hold hands with the person in front and the person behind you, however at certain times I found that I needed both hands to climb the rocks (especially where it can get a bit slippery). It is, however, a good idea to stay near those in front of you and behind you, as you are able to help each other out quite a lot and find different ways across the rocks.
The experienced tour guides are always there with help and advice and will climb beside you if you so wish.
The guides are also there to make this a lot of fun, we gave our underwater camera to one of the helpful staff who took our picture in the falls. There are plenty of opportunities to "smile for the camera" whilst on this climb, so, if you want to show family and friends your experience and prove that you climbed the falls, I would definately take an underwater camera. There is almost always likely to be somebody taking a video of you as you climb too, which is available from your resort.
At certain points, there are different things to do -- the guide will help you to "human slide" and have fun splashing you all as a group at the top!!
This is great for all the family, though I would not advise that young children climb the falls.
With "cool runnings" --on the way back is a catamaran rum cruise party -very good when you've done all of that climbing!
The reggae music will have you dancing along as the friendly staff show off their moves too!!
Climbing shoes for the falls can be purchased en route or from your hotelgift shop, alternatively, trainers can be worn.
On the way out, there is a craft market where you can buy an abudance of goodies or just politely say "no thank you!"
If you can, do this whilst you are in Jamaica , do!

Advantages: Everything - its an amazing place! Disadvantages: None that we encountered, although we heard it wasn't safe to venture out into Negril on your own.
