Visit the Altstadt
Review of Old Town (Altstadt) by zowena

Advantages: Great bars and shops
Disadvantages: Quite crowded

Having visted the Altstadt on more than one occasion over the last few years (My dad lived in Germany) I have not had a bad experience of it. Situated near the Rhine, it is a glorious array of cafes and shops. Best experience has to be when we went for a delicious meal (sorry, can't remember name of restaurant) then found our way into the bars. Service was excellent, never an empty glass and the atmostphere was electric. Men and women of all ages ...
...comfortable and at ease all night, especially when we moved on to a club and danced the night away to a variety of European music. More recently we went to a Xmas market near the Alstadt which I must recommend, wrap up warm and weave your way round the wonderfully decorated stalls whilst supping Gluvine (spelling?) A good place to stock up on some Xmas pressies! ... Read review
