Duesseldorf for young people
Review of Düsseldorf (Germany) by Bong2k

Advantages: Welcoming to young people, lots to do, welcoming to English people
Disadvantages: very big and possibly confusing at times

When I visited Duesseldorf I went because I had a German friend who lived there. Being 17 I was able to take advantage of the lower pub entry age to that of England which was great for socialising in the evening's with his friends. The accomodation I stayed in was a youth hostel on the west side of the river Rhine, just across the water from the main part of Duesseldorf. Not only was the accomodation cheap but also no more than a 20min walk from ...
...a large number of Turkish people living there which means that there is a lot of Turkish influence in the city, none more so than in the food as there are many "Doenar" shops selling authentic Turkish food. The best thing for myself would have to be the fact that i was able to go into the "altstadt" in the evening, where most of the pubs and clubs are, and be able to actually drink alcohol! I know this is not unique to Germany but the atmosphere ... Read review

A place you'll never get bored in!
Review of Dusseldorf (Germany) by becks22

Advantages: A huge choice of pubs and restaurants
Disadvantages: Hotels are normally slightly out of town

Having lived in Dusseldorf for a year, I left completely in love with the city. Not only are the people there extremely friendly, outgoing and helpful but there is so much to do and see. In terms of attractions it may not have as many as other German cities but it definitely still has much to offer. It is situated in North Germany just next to the river Rhine, which offers very reasonably priced river cruises. When i went last year it cost just 12 ...
...tourist attractions, various parts of Dusseldorf are also worth visiting. The town centre, or old town, for instance. (I spent most of my year there!) From the older, more scenic part of the old town to the more modern part you will never get bored. It is literally filled with pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. Whilst there the local beer should definitely be tried. The local beer in Dusseldorf is Altbier, a dark beer slightly similar to Newcastle ... Read review

Go Stag in Dusseldorf
Review of Dusseldorf (Germany) by apert

Advantages: Great food, beer and friendly helpful people
Disadvantages: Weeze airport is miles away - closer to Holland!

...on a stag weekend to Dusseldorf and I can say the place is fantastically suited for this type of occasion! While the cheaper hotels may be slightly out of the town centre, the public transport system is cheap, efficient and clean, with trams every 10minutes, so getting the troops in and out to the many pubs and bars is not a problem. The main area to go is the Altstadt found by the Rhine, where more bars than I've ever seen in one area before can ...
...available, but I would recommend trying the excellent local hotdogs or schweinfleisch mit brochen (hog roast baps) instead. Word of warning - if you're flying in to Dusseldorf Weeze airport, it is about 1hour from town, so get the airport bus (11E each) as opposed to grabbing a taxi (110E). ... Read review

what a find..
Review of Dusseldorf (Germany) by Diane22025

Advantages: quality hotel..
Disadvantages: location

...for someone who lives in Dusseldorf let alone a visitor (the site does offer a map and the staff all speak very good English) but other than that I can find no reason to give this hotel a bad review. The hotel was spotless. Our room was on the top floor and when we entered the sofa bed was laid out with little chocolates for my son.A beautiful staircase took my husband and I upstairs within the room was a king size bed(and more chocolate)..TV and ...
...TV ..which delighted my son(you have to be a little careful they have alot of adult channels in Germany)..The bathroom had robes..soaps,shoeshine etc.. On arrival we went to the bar and that didn't have my usual tipple Baileys...the next evening the Baileys was available..!! Breakfast was included and a large buffet was laid out.Fresh fruit cheese, bread everything you could possibly want for breakfast as well as the divine coffee.. The local transport ... Read review

Quality clubs in Dusseldorf
Review of Düsseldorf (Germany) by LancasterGuy

Advantages: Quality
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

The cheapest club of any quality in Dusseldorf is Sub which is located in the Altstadt. This club only costs 5dm(1.70 pounds)to get in and then provides well priced drinks. A large cocktail for example costs about DM 14 which is less than five pounds, while a glass of draught beer(0.3 litre) costs about DM 3.50 which is about 1.15 pounds. A large advantage is that there is waiter service so you don't have to spend a long time waiting for a drink. ...
...the main components, although these are mostly commercial tracks. The club is well worth a visit. Other clubs worthwhile include La Rocca which is located on the Konigsalle and is more expensive, playing mostly hardcore house and trans. The Malkasten is one of the best clubs in Dusseldorf but is quite expensive, entrance on the weekends being between 10-15 pounds. Here on many Saturdays they have dj´s from the Ministry of Sound. The Room located ... Read review
