...for someone who lives in Dusseldorf let alone a visitor (the site does offer a map and the staff all speak very good English) but other than that I can find no reason to give this hotel a bad review. The hotel was spotless.
Our room was on the top floor and when we entered the sofa bed was laid out with little chocolates for my son.A beautiful staircase took my husband and I upstairs within the room was a king size bed(and more chocolate)..TV ... ...and TV ..which delighted my son(you have to be a little careful they have alot of adult channels in Germany)..The bathroom had robes..soaps,shoeshine etc..
On arrival we went to the bar and that didn't have my usual tipple Baileys...the next evening the Baileys was available..!!
Breakfast was included and a large buffet was laid out.Fresh fruit cheese, bread everything you could possibly want for breakfast as well as ... more
We recently stayed in the Soret Hotel Dussseldorf and feel that this hotel is worth a mention. After I received the offer from Buzz for a cheap flight we thought that this would be an ideal opportunity to visit friends in Germany..but I still needed to find a hotel..I wanted the weekend to be special so began the search for a five star hotel. The majority were a little too expensive.I then searched the internet for a four star hotel and found the Soret sight.I would normally look for a hotel with a pool. But in Germany they tend to wear very little in the pool! and I think that I am a little too prudish to be bearing all!!
The hotel I found can be located at www.sorat-hotels.com Volmerswerther Straße 35 · D-40221 Düsseldorf Telephone (+49) 211 - 302 20 · FAX (+49) 211 - 302 25 55

The pound is very strong at the moment 3 marks to the pound..the hotel for 2 nights 3 people breakfast 4 star came to £148.00
Advantages: A huge choice of pubs and restaurants Disadvantages: Hotels are normally slightly out of town
Having lived in Dusseldorf for a year, I left completely in love with the city. Not only are the people there extremely friendly, outgoing and helpful but there is so much to do and see. In terms of attractions it may not have as many as other German cities but it definitely still has much to offer. It is situated in North Germany just next to the river Rhine, which offers very reasonably priced river cruises. When i went last year it cost just 12 ... ...tourist attractions, various parts of Dusseldorf are also worth visiting. The town centre, or old town, for instance. (I spent most of my year there!) From the older, more scenic part of the old town to the more modern part you will never get bored. It is literally filled with pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. Whilst there the local beer should definitely be tried. The local beer in Dusseldorf is Altbier, a dark beer slightly similar to Newcastle ...

Advantages: Great food, beer and friendly helpful people Disadvantages: Weeze airport is miles away - closer to Holland!
...on a stag weekend to Dusseldorf and I can say the place is fantastically suited for this type of occasion! While the cheaper hotels may be slightly out of the town centre, the public transport system is cheap, efficient and clean, with trams every 10minutes, so getting the troops in and out to the many pubs and bars is not a problem. The main area to go is the Altstadt found by the Rhine, where more bars than I've ever seen in one area before can ... ...available, but I would recommend trying the excellent local hotdogs or schweinfleisch mit brochen (hog roast baps) instead. Word of warning - if you're flying in to Dusseldorf Weeze airport, it is about 1hour from town, so get the airport bus (11E each) as opposed to grabbing a taxi (110E). ...

Dusseldorf is one of the most attractive and upmarket cities in Germany. Partly this is because of the international makeup of the city. Many firms, in particular Japanese firms have made Dusseldorf their European base, and this toghther with the international Messe(trading fair)provides a very international outlook. Not being able to speak german is not a disadvantage as much as in other german cities, with most people in shops, resturants and civil officals speaking at least passable english. Possibly the two greatest attractions in dusseldorf are the Altstadt(old city) and the Konigssalle, which is one of the premier shopping streets worldwide. The altstadt is a large pedestrian area containing shops, resturants and bars, and is known as the longest bar in the world, with the area covering more than three square kilometers ...
Advantages: Huge Selection Disadvantages: Can be expensive
There is a wide selecion of pubs in dusseldorf so I will only recommend a few of the best. To begin with I will recommend a few pubs in the altstadt. The first is McLaughlins Irish Pub. This is widely regarded as the premium Irish pub in Dusseldorf. This is partly because of the wide selsection of nationalities of the pubs customers. it is easy here to walk in and immediatley find someone to talk about, usually in english. The staff here are very friendly, and the owner Tom is alwaays ready to welcome visitors to dusseldorf and give them a few tips of whats on. Every Thursday here is a student night but everyone not just students are welcome, the beer is half price and there is always a great atmosphere. The second is Mai Tai which is a Thai cocktail bar located in the altstadt, which serves a large range of cocktails at reasonalbe ...
The standard and price of resturants in dusseldorf varies greatly, so I have decided to split this section in two, with recommendations for business travellers and for those on a tighter budjet. Firstly for business travellers, there are two Italian resturants that i would highly recommend. The first is La Terraza which is located looking over the Konigsalle providing a very nice view. The menu here is some what limited and the food expensive, but the quality and view make this well worth a visit. The second resutrant is Rossini which is located on the tram line number U79 at the stop Nordstrasse. This resturant has a slightly larger menu as well as boasting an excellent wine menu, but again is somewhat expensive. Another premium resturant is Im Schiffchen which is located in the subarb Kaiserswerth which is also on the same tram line ...
