East Lodge Country House Hotel, Matlock

Stayed here 9th December 2006.
Booked a Saturday night here for my husband's 39th birthday as a treat (for both of us)! We only live about half an hour away in Chesterfield and had heard very good reports about the place. We were not disappointed.
We arrived at around 4pm and after we had been shown to our 'executive room' (can't remember name but it was above the reception/conservatory area). Driving up to the Hotel, it looked spectacular ...
...We decided to leave our bags and go back down to the bar in the conservatory and have a drink before going to change for dinner. Very relaxing place - a few hours away from two 7 and 9 year old 'teenagers' at home. After dressing for dinner we went back down to the bar for a gin and tonic and to order from the fantastic menu. We decided to leave our bags and go back down to the bar in the conservatory and have a drink before going to change for dinner. Very relaxing place - a few hours away from two 7 and 9 year old 'teenagers' at home. After dressing for dinner we went back down to the bar for a gin and tonic and to order from the fantastic menu. So much choice. Food was absolutely faultless - as was service. Beautiful relaxed surroundings. Coffee was taken in the lounge at the side of reception and then we retired to bed. Room was amazing - huge bed - beautiful soft furnishings (even a teddy bear left on the bed!) Flat screen tv on wall, dvd player. Bathroom was also stunning - two person shower, whole wall of mirror above washbasins. Could not fault this if we tried.
Breakfast next morning - think we must have been up earlier than everyone else as we had the whole dining room to ourselves. Both had omlette - cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend a visit here - I am already dropping hints to husband about a return visit!
