My partially disabled mother, in her 91st year, and I, recently travelled with Easyjet to Malaga from Luton. At £60 return each I was very impressed with the standard of service received by my mother, wheel chair from check-in desk to departure lounge, and onward to the aircraft. Met by another wheelchair at Malaga and taken through to arrivals hall. Same again on return flight except that we had a lift meet us on arrival at Luton, complete with wheel chair.
Yes, the airline is cheap and cheerful, but on my return I looked up the BA fare to Malaga from a London airport and found it to be 11 times what I had paid Easyjet, which would have meant, had we travelled BA that we would have been in receipt of some very expensive "free" drinks and meals, and their ground service in respect of looking after mother could not have been any better that Easyjet's.
The flights did operate slightly late, although in the case of the outbound flight, despite the late start we still managed to arrive 10 minutes early - apparently we had a strong following wind pushing us along.
I also noted that despite being a cheapy airline, they still manage to give a more generous baggage allowance than other airlines, except those operating business and first class services. At 25 kilos compared with other airlines at 22 kilos or less, also their excess baggage rate of £1 per kilo must be the cheapest in the business.
PLEASE NOTE: Although I have completed "Satisfactory" under the Food Quality heading below, in fact we had no food on the flights, and this has only been completed in this manner because the ciao system demands that I complete the section in question whilst not giving me any option to enter a "don't know" which would have been the truthful answer.
