I took my Father on Sunday from Belfast to Luton so that we could go to the Airshow at Duxford. Before all this I was browsing 2 months ago to check how much it would cost. It has to be a day trip as my Mother is disabled and would not manage at night by herself. So British Airways, British Midland and British European all at least £140 plus taxes so that would be too expensive by far. If you can stay overnight on a sAturday the price is a lot less.

Easyjet to the Rescue.
So looking at the website for Easyjet I was able to book each journey leg at £22.50 per person so the total excluding tax of £45 each for the day trip. Easy to book online and only bad point was the seperate fat cat tax as described which made the total £20 tax each. Confirmation was printed off and we took ID in the form of passports as this is a ticketless airline

The Trip.
Left Belfast International at 11.30 which was later than scheduled but with strong headwinds we arrived on time. The flight was uneventful and the scramble for seats would not recommend this airline to any Elderly or disabled travellers.The Aircraft is a 737-300 which is a compact plane with 29inches of legroom between each row except in emergency rows where it is 31. So less room than full fare airlines. Catering is to order from a limited selection and at a cost of £1.50 for a coffee or £1 for a Pepsi.
Inflight safety breifing on a par with other airlines.
On the Return all was the same including delayed take off however instead of just a scramble for seats we had the bus to take us to the plane but no one told us so we tried to board the wrong plane. Why they could not say please board the bus I do not know. The cabin crew on the flight back were very good and cheerful.

In all for day trips it is the only affordable way to go.However I would not risk using them to connect to another airline as any delays are not covered by any interline agreements so if Easyjet cause you to miss your connection hard luck.
