We flew to Barcelona recently with Easyjet for a 4 day break. My partner works for an insurance company as a loss adjuster & warned me beforehand that Easyjet are notorious for losing baggage. We took out insurance, but thought that it was unlikley to happen to us - as you do.

We arrived back at Gatwick after a delay of 2 hours from Barcelone - no real problem there - it happend all the time, & was due to fog at Gatwick. However, one of our suitcases was missing. The baggage guys at Gatwick confirmed that everything was off the plane.

It transpires that Easyjet have a policy whereby if they are running late, the pilot 'shuts' the flight, and leaves baggage behind to make sure they keep up with their schedules.

So now our personal possessions are god knows where, and we have to go through the inconvenience of trying to locate them again. There were loads of other people at Gatwick in the same position.

My opinion of Easy jet from this is that whilst they are cheap & cheerful, they are poor with considering customer needs, and are more interested in maintaining their profit margin. It is extremely inconvenient & very annoying

It left a sour taste on what was a good break to Barcelona for us, & i would rather pay more money & travel with more assurance that my bags will turn up next time.

So if you want very cheap & cheerful go with easyjet, make sure not to take anything decent, and be ready to have to waste time having to claim for lost baggage. Alternatively - & my suggestion - fly with someone else.

I noted the comments from other users & thoughty i would add some more :

Flights - From Gatwick we had no problems whatsoever - staff were helpful & we took off on time - In fact i was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the operation that easyjet offer. You pay for your drinks, and they are reasonable, if a little expensive. Seating was comfortable & we were happy with the outward journey.

Security at the airport was good on outbound journey -a little slower , but reassuring in light of the current situation.

Return flight - We were delayed by 2 hours - this was due to fog, & so Easyjet were not at fault. The staff at Barcelona were helpful & friendly, and the lounges there are relatively comfortable. On the flight things were good again. We sat at the front, where there is nothing in front of you so we were able to stretch out our feet. The only thing i did notice was that the Easyjet staff were incredibly young - The senior member of cabin crew was 21 at maximum - we wondered about what might happen in an emergency - would they have the presence of mind at that age to take control of an emergency situation. ( before anyone says it i'm not ' ageist' - i am 33 myself it's just you wonder about these things - i know what i was like at 21 !!!)

General Flights - there are no seat numbers which is actually a good thing, as long as you chekc in really early as Easyjet load the flight by ticket number - si if you check in first you will have ticket 1 and get on board first - therefore having the choice of the seating - go fo the front - you can stretch out your legs.

Then we come down to the baggage issue again - I've probably said enough on this already, but having had a chance to sleep in it - Make sure you have good travel insurance if you do fly with Easyjet - luckily we have - there is also a website to track losg baggage - www.mylostbag.com ( Unfortunately Easyjet do not subscribe - but if you are using another airline this might help) - Happy travelling !
