************What I was looking for?**********

Being a student on a tight budget, I knew that booking a summer's holiday to the Algarve would be a difficult task. I had heard so many different opinions from friends and family about cheap airlines such as easyJet, BMI, thomsonfly and ryanair. However, I came to the conclusion that at the end of the day every airline is going to get you to your destination safe and sound, on this thought I decided to take a gamble with easyJet. This is how my first experience of easyJet spanned out....

************Booking************

The actual booking of the flight was remarkably straight forward and I was able to do this all online for free. My most local airport was London Gatwick, so I simply chose that on the list of airports on the easyJet website, selected Faro and selected my departure and arrival date. This brought me to a number of selections of times and prices, flights being cheaper when you choose to fly late at night or very early morning. In the end I settled with leaving at 5.30am for my outbound journey at £85 and a 10.05pm flight costing a mere £30 for the return journey. I saw this as a bargain and what made it even better was all I had to do was print out two pages displaying details of the flight instead of getting tickets sent to me and always fearing for their safety.

************Check-in**********

Checking in at Gatwick was smooth and efficient. For such a low budget airline, I was suprised at the speed in which they got through their passengers, opening up three check-in gates. In order to get the boarding passes, all I needed to do was display the print out at the check in gates where I also dropped off my luggage. The weight limit was 20kg per item which I suprisingly fell below easily. You were then allowed to take on with you a very generous sized bag acting as hand luggage. To save hassle of checking in 3 hours before the flight, I had the option of checking in luggage the previous evening, however deciding against this, but could be an advantage to other passengers.

********The Plane and Flight********

The plane from the outside was displayed in its familiar easyJet orange coloured logo. The plane was quite small and inside had 2 sets of 3 rows going down either side of the plane. I had the option of sitting anyway onboard, however it didnt seem that some seats had more reasonable leg room than others. The leg room was adequate for such a short flight and seemed the same that I had come across in economy classes in such airlines as British Airways and Emirates. The crew performed a very detailed safety guide as always and were very good at checking seatbelts, litter, overhead lockers etc throughout the flight.

The toilets were small but did their job. On flight entertainment was minmal for a short flight however a series of screens dropped down to show flight details and tracking of our journey. Snacks and on flight duty free were offered throughout the flight, however they are greatly overpriced, with a tea being about £2.40 and a very small bottle of pepsi being £1.50! I didnt even begin to look at the price of food and especially the prices of watches, perfume etc. The flight was peaceful and smooth and I arrived at my destinations when expected and experienced no delays in the collection of luggage.

***********Conclusion***********

The best about flying with easyJet was the brilliant price, perfect for such a short flight. On top of that the crew were always helpful and friendly making it a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Ok the snacks and drinks were overpriced however despite this I would highly reccommend easyJet for a cheap and safe journey.
