If you're looking for a peaceful holiday, Texel in the months July and August is definitely not the place to be. Although the mass tourism concentrates in the western part of the island (De Koog-area), is's hard to find some quiet spots in these months. Besides that, if you're going there by car, you'll be confronted with large waiting times and delays at the ferry.
The eastern part (the Wadden side) is all year long much quieter, with the possible exception of Oudeschild, the target harbour of many authentic sailing ships and modern yachts.
So the best time to visit Texel is (late) Spring or (early) Autumn.
Like the other islands Texel is ideal for cyclists, although it has less special cycling paths than the others.

Advantages: High framerates, great visuals, good value Disadvantages: No longer a top competitor by a fairly long way but for the not so serious gamer there is absolutely no problem
For budget graphics with great quality, look no further than a Diamond Viper V770. It is based around the fantastic TwiN Texel 2 (TNT2) engine created by the world leader in graphics cards, nVidia. The card is stable, has great driver support, and is capable of great visuals and framerates. It supports up to 32mb of video ram on board, running by default on a standard V770 at 150mhz (125mhz core speed). However a lot of these cards were built with a lot of headroom - as long as you have decent cooling, you should be able to bump these speeds up to 150mhz core, 175mhz memory, the same specifications as a V770 Ultra. With imaginative cooling you can reach 179 core, 198 memory! This allows greater framerates, for smoother gameplay.
