Lets face it we all hate cattle class and we all wish that everytime we took a flight we could fly first class. Well for your average Joe Bloggs its not going to happen, so I suggest we make a choice stop complaining and try to make fun of it or don't fly.

Very harsh I know but here's some comments that may or may not make it easier:

Every time I am wisked away to some wonderful destination I remember that it is only in the last 20 years that it has really become possible to do that. Once upon a time you had to be rich or you had probably saved for that once in a life time trip and the rest of us just took our main holiday somewhere in the UK or if lucky we took a ferry and a drive to europe.

Airlines have made it possible for everyone to get out and see the world and yes they could make it that little bit more comfortable and I am sure things will always get better but we are all in business and I for one dont want the cost of flight tickets to go up.

Time and time again I hear people demanding bulk head seats for extra leg room, please feel free to demand but remember most flights have over 300 hundred people on board and not everyonce can get those few seats.

If you have a disability and want an exit seat, you have no chance so don't try that. FAA rules insist that only physically fit people can open the exit door in an exmergency.

I personally feel we would all be happier if the reclining seat were removed, I hear watch dog programmes demanding that seats fully recline. No, I hate it when people feel it is their right to recline and you get to stare at the back of their head for a 14 hour flight because your to polite to do the same thing to the person behind you. I'm trying to eat my chicken and all I can see is somebodies dandruff ridden hair, thanks very much.

Away from my pet hates how do we make life better, well I try to avoid the charter if I can afford to, charters are good for one thing cheapness and on occation getting you somewhere direct. If you are taller than a dwarf you will be unconfortable.

Try to fly direct even if it has touchdowns, chances are if you fly direct there is less chance of delays and less chance that your luggage will go astray and more chance of it comming back soon if it does.

If you do have to connect I always try to have at the very least 3 hours to connect that way if you do have delays theres time to breath, Oh! and if you have connections make them with the same airline if possible because when things go wronge the next flight can be rebooked more eaily.

Always, Always take hand luggage that will last you at least a night. Baggage does get lost and the more you fly the more chance you have of loosing it. A wash kit can make all the difference to a very bad situation. However, hand luggage is searched well so dont carry sharp objects in the hand luggage and I try to avoid foods and flowers because chances are some contries wont allow them in.

You must tag, tag, tag your luggage you want your destination address; phone number along with the flight numbers to be clear. I usually apply 3 tags to make sure (and I have a steal one). If your bag is taged it can be traced and you will get it back (well 99 per cent of the time).

I personally prefer an asle seat unless travelling with friends who I will have no bones about asking to shift. Long flights are better if you can stand up now and again and streach your legs.

I used to enjoy the free booze that was served on long haul flight and although I don't always practice what I preach I would say try to stick to water you'll feel so much better when you arrive at your destination.

So make sure you take lots to enteratin you (especially on a charter flight with no gadget back seat TV's) a good sense of humor and treat it as the start of your holiday.

You are so right that it is only recently that flying has become a viable option for most people. My personal hate is to hear complaints that a flight is boring. An exciting flight is the last thing I want, straight, level & dull is the only way to fly!
