Lovely lodges and amazing hot tubs!
Advantages: Nice lodges, fantastic hot tubs! Disadvantages: Surrounding area not so good
Drummohr Lodges are situated on the Firth of Forth, near Musselburgh, Scotland. The park is approx 8 miles from Edinburgh. I came across Drummohr Lodges while browsing through the Hoseasons brochure last year. I was looking for somewhere new to visit for a short break with my partner for his birthday in November, and having stayed in a few Hoseasons holiday parks previously and always finding them to be really nice, I didn't really want to look elsewhere. ... ...the brochure. We decided on Drummohr Lodges as we thought it looked nice and was also not far from Edinburgh which we wanted to visit. Plus, some of the lodges also had hot tubs! So we booked a Mon - Fri break. We drove up the A1 from Newcastle and the park was very easy to find following the directions provided on the booking form. We arrived earlier than the check-in time of 4pm, and the park seemed very quiet, but bearing in mind it is a camping ...

The Highlight Of The Farming Year
Advantages: Fun, Educational, Lots of Freebies Disadvantages: A lot of walking
The Royal Highland Show is possibly the highlight of my year. The first time I went was 16 years ago where I was -3 months old (my mum was carrying me!) Since then I have been there everyday off my life.
Now I am a Young Farmer and going to the dances there. Here is my story and experience of the Royal Highland Show over the last 16 years...
What Is It?
The Royal Highland Show is the agricultural event of the year in Scotland. Now it is ... ...once a year roughly around the 20-4th of June over 4 days, usually a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It hosts the biggest farming competitions for Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Chickens, Honey, Milk, Cheese, Ice-Cream and much more. There are hundreds of stall holders from Tractors, Crafts, Food everything farming related. And so many different events for every age ranging from the fast and furious to the charming and cute. Why Go?

THE ORIGINAL "BIG ONE"
Advantages: Stunning Feat of Engineering. Great Scottish Landmark. Easily Accessible. Disadvantages: Men Died That We May Look Upon This.
...that everyone is familiar with the well known anecdote regarding the Forth Bridge, that famous Victorian rail bridge crossing the Firth of Forth to the north of Edinburgh in Scotland. This review is indeed about the bridge that they famously never finish painting.
As some of you will already know, I am something of a fan of Victorian engineering, my hero being Isambard Kingdom Brunel, responsible for the design of the Clifton Suspension Bridge amongst ... ...write. Whilst I have visited the bridge on three occasions, as far as the design and building are concerned, the bulk of this review is based on research carried out following our recent visit in October 2006.
WHY BUILD A BRIDGE HERE?
The need for a rail bridge crossing the Forth Estuary between North and South Queensferry was obvious enough. In 1880, the Victorian traveller had a high speed rail connection - the East Coast Line - all the way from ...

Home Of The Scottish Government
Advantages: interesting tour Disadvantages: a bit boring if you dont like politics
Holyrood has been home to the Scottish Government since 2004 and the building designed by Catalan architect Enric Miralles was the subject of much controversy because of the massive amounts of money spent on building it and many hated the modern design. I was invited to the parliament building as part of a group by my local MSP and after we had a meeting we were given a tour of the building by her researcher. My experience will be slightly different ... ...the parliament was sitting, public tours normally only take place on non business days. Visit the Scottish government website for more details about what days and time tours take place. Holyrood is at the bottom of the Royal Mile near to Arthur's seat, it is a lovely walk through the lovely cobbled old streets from the city centre to the parliament building but a regular bus service also operates, unless you are disabled it is best to leave the car ...

Run Killiefan Run!
Advantages: Pushing myself to new limits, I raised loads of money Disadvantages: Sore legs for days
...needing runners for was the Edinburgh marathon. How hard can that be? I thought to myself, after all I had completed a half marathon the previous September so all I had to do was double the distance and I would be fine.
I quickly decided then that I was going to go for it, so I cut the advert out of the paper and the very next day phoned the number and agreed to take up the charity place in the Edinburgh marathon.
*****ENTRY*****
As I said above ... ...First of all the Edinburgh marathon almost didn't take place this year. With just a few days to go, the organisers of the race were bailed out by the local council for over £100,000 to cover the cost of road closures on the day. They were also appealing for volunteers, as with a few days to go they were still 200 short of the 1,000 volunteers that were needed for the day. This all means that the future of the Edinburgh marathon is in doubt which ...
