Hi, I am trying to write reviews of places that I have visited. Hope they are helpful to people going to those places. I'm currently in university and every single pence helps to finance my travels. Cheers !
The castle is on a steep hill. The City of Edinburgh grew out from the Castle rock, and the first houses in Edinburgh were built on the area in front of Edinburgh Castle , which is now known as the Lawnmarket, and then continued down the High Street and The Cannongate towards the Royal Palace of Holyrood House.
I personally like the One O'Clock Gun in the castle. This is fired every day except Sunday at precisely 1.00pm to provide everyone with an accurate check for their clocks and watches.
Other attractions in the castle include the 'Honours of the Kingdom' exhibition telling the story of Scotland's Crown Jewels - saved from Cromwell to become some of the oldest surviving regalia in Europe
Even though the entrance ticket is expensive, it is worth going in. We paid for the audio guides and didn't really listen to them because there were many explanation boards to read and so many photo taking scenes.
If you want to go to Edinburgh Castle, I recommend you to go in as soon as it is opened because there are not so many tourists yet and you can have a good look around. Also, wear good walking shoes because the castle has uneven grounds and it is very steep up the hill.
Conclusion: Even if you only have 3 hours in Edinburgh, you should definitely go to this castle. From the castle, you can get a very good view of Edinburgh.

You could write reams on Edinburgh Castle - l have been although l wouldnt dream of going back as l thought the ticket price is extortionate A walking tour in Edinburgh can give a better feel of the city and you get to rind out about some of the cities more notorious characters. But, if you add more detail to the review please let me know so l can re-rate for you. Thanks Heather

I've done the tour. If I had three hours in Edinburgh, I wouldn't do a tour though, although I would wander up the Royal Mile. There are so many museums which are cheaper and easier to see properly.

Again - sorry for NH rating. There is so much to say about Edinburgh Castle - parts of it are over 900 years old. You need to add more info about what you can see and do inside the castle eg: the musuems, dungeons, the pet cemetery, Mons Meg etc etc , ticket prices, how to book, how much audio tours etc cost... if you add to review, i will re-rate.
