Advantages: Great for golf, excellent facilities for a active or lazy weekend
Disadvantages: For visiting Edinburgh choose a central hotel

To use up Marriott points before they expired, we took the train north to Scotland to the hotel we had found on Marriott’s web site which seemed to have it all for a lazy couple of days, the Marriott Dalmahoy. Stay on the Royal Mile

Advantages: Luxurious
Disadvantages: Not cheap

The Norton House Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh about 2 miles away from the airport, and a 20 min (£8) cab ride into town. It has lovely grounds, which are great for walking or early morning jogs! The rooms in the main house are very spacious, with antique walnut furniture and subtly traditional furnishings. It wasn't as good as I expected, am I aiming too high?

Advantages: Nice senery, nice swimming pool, not too far from Edinburgh, nice surroundings to walk around!
Disadvantages: old hotel-a bit 70s, old cutlery(not old style, but used - you can tell obviously!)

My husband & I stayed for 2 nights in Kalzie suite in late sept/oct 09- is claimed by the hotel official website as 1 of the luxury room of the whole hotel, no espcial offer+cannot book from internet.- it was to celebrate my 30th birthday and to have a relaxing days out of the city. The suite is located on ground floor, where near the swimming pool/ leisure club, dining room, which was handy for us. There's a private corridor to get into the 2 ...

A lovely Scottish hotel

Advantages: Central location, attractive building, good customer service
Disadvantages: Shower had seen better days - otherwise none

It was certainly a period property anyway and the photo accompanying this review doesn't really do the hotel enough justice.
