The Place to Have Your Wedding Night
Review of Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh by
Groovee
Advantages: On the city Centre
Disadvantages: No Parking Facilities
...taxi had arrived outside the Balmoral Hotel on Princes Street.
This hotel is No1 Princes Street! The very first hotel you come to at the East End of Princes Street. It is a very posh exclusive hotel which I never guessed I would spend my wedding night in. Hubby is a plumber/gas engineer and has done a lot of work in this hotel and decided this was the place to stay.
He had asked for a specific suite over looking Edinburgh Castle, but it was not ... ...a suite which overlooked the East End of Princes Street and Waterloo Place.
We went in one door and I could not believe that it was a sitting room. The TV was on in the sitting room too. The message read 'Welcome Mr and Mrs D Carlisle!' My heart just melted. I went for a wander. I found a cupboard that turned out to be a shower. It was down the hallway which linked the sitting area to the bedroom. The bedroom had the BIGGEST bed I had ever seen. ...

The Marriott - More Rabbit than Sainsbury's!??!
Review of Edinburgh Marriott Hotel by
carcraig
Advantages: Exceptional Customer Service, Location, Free Parking, You can use your Tesco Vouchers
Disadvantages: Slightly Pricey compared to Travel Lodges etc
...as a base for visiting Edinburgh Zoo and Deep Sea World.
Location
The hotel is located on the western edge of Edinburgh, on Glasgow Road, a mere two miles from the airport, and only 4 miles from Edinburgh city centre. It has ample free on-site parking and is just off the A8. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the Gyle Shopping Centre.
The bus-stops outside the hotel are frequented by a number of buses bound for both the city centre and ... ...located for getting in to Edinburgh city centre and is extremely close to the Zoo. The room layout was perfect for a family with small children. The room was clean, well-appointed and a good size. The pool in particular was a great facility for us, and we probably would have used it more if the weather hadn't been so good.
Slight sleepers may have found the traffic noise disturbed them but the double glazing was efficient and this didn't affect ...

Apex City Hotel
Review of Apex City, Edinburgh by
blaaboy
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Business like feel - possible noise from nearby pubs.
The Apex city Hotel is the most central of the three Apex hotels in Edinburgh. Situated in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle and across from the lively Grassmarket. The Apex City is perhaps most suited to the business traveller. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, if perhaps unattentive. Had requested a top floor room as noise can be an issue due to the prevalence of pubs across the road - instead was placed at the rear of the hotel. Very quite indeed, ...

" a happy valentine "
Review of Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh by
ffoeg
Advantages: close proximity to centre of city and public transport system.
Disadvantages: front facing rooms could be a little noisy from the busy road outside.
spent 3days at the carlton around valentines day . Having read that the front rooms of the hotel can be a little noisy from traffic etc. I phoned reception a couple of days before, and asked if we could be allocated a rear facing room--- This was duly done with no problem. The room itself was of a good size, with a small sitting area, and a good sized bathroom. the twin beds were very comfortable. The inclusive breakfast was of a good quality and ...

Details break the first impression
Review of Apex International Hotel, Edinburgh by
Lelo
Advantages: Centrally located
Disadvantages: could be better for 4 stars hotel
...overlooking the Edinburgh castle.
The Apex International hotel has two restaurants, one on the ground floor and another one, the Heights, on the 5th floor, overlooking the castle. The food at the Heights is refined and well cooked, Scottish cuisine at its best, and it can claim a AA Rosettes certificate. Although the food was good I wasn't impressed by the restaurant's atmosphere. The room was a square box with no much decoration or colours, used ...
