Apex City Hotel
Review of Apex City, Edinburgh by blaaboy

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Business like feel - possible noise from nearby pubs.

The Apex city Hotel is the most central of the three Apex hotels in Edinburgh. Situated in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle and across from the lively Grassmarket. The Apex City is perhaps most suited to the business traveller. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, if perhaps unattentive. Had requested a top floor room as noise can be an issue due to the prevalence of pubs across the road - instead was placed at the rear of the hotel. Very quite indeed, ... Read review

Rooms you want to stay in
Review of The Bonham, Edinburgh by Freddydog

Advantages: luxurious, quiet central rooms
Disadvantages: expensive

...With a little research on the Internet the lure of a luxury boutique four star 48 room hotel set in a quiet road with a short walking distance into the center of Edinburgh plus the title of Hotel of the year for Scotland was all we needed to decide the venue of our one night of luxury. . We took a taxi for the third of a mile from Waverley station to a very quiet, what seemed like residential, road and stopped outside a Victorian town house, even ...
...décor seen through the bay front windows gave a hint of what the inside had to reveal. We booked a superior double room and were shown up to a large room at the back of the hotel with a wonderful view of the Bridge of Forth, and no sooner had the porter closed the door but the kettle was put on for coffee. Just as we settled back with our cups of coffee and biscuits the banging began, after a quick call to reception it turned out there was building ... Read review

Go on, treat yourself...
Review of Malmaison, Edinburgh by alisonr

Advantages: Modern, Luxurious, All the comforts you could need
Disadvantages: Not right in the centre of Edinburgh

...spent a night at the Malmaison, Leith (nr Edinburgh) and I have to say it's one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Location: Ok it's not right in the centre of Edinburgh, it's at Leith Docks, but it's easily accessible by car and avoids the hassle of driving in the city centre. It costs around £5 to get a taxi into the city centre from the hotel. The car park is closed at the moment, but there's free parking around the hotel and we had no problems ...
...cheap deal on lastminute.com for £95 for a superior double room. The hotel's own rate is more expensive (over £200 per night) The Room: Our room was on the top floor with a great view of the redeveloped dock area. There are no long corridors with lots of rooms, you feel private and hidden away - our room being up a winding staircase. The room itself was huge with four sash windows, the bed was also massive and very, very comfy! The decor and furnishings ... Read review

The Marriott - More Rabbit than Sainsbury's!??!
Review of Edinburgh Marriott Hotel by carcraig

Advantages: Exceptional Customer Service, Location, Free Parking, You can use your Tesco Vouchers
Disadvantages: Slightly Pricey compared to Travel Lodges etc

...as a base for visiting Edinburgh Zoo and Deep Sea World. Location The hotel is located on the western edge of Edinburgh, on Glasgow Road, a mere two miles from the airport, and only 4 miles from Edinburgh city centre. It has ample free on-site parking and is just off the A8. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the Gyle Shopping Centre. The bus-stops outside the hotel are frequented by a number of buses bound for both the city centre and ...
...located for getting in to Edinburgh city centre and is extremely close to the Zoo. The room layout was perfect for a family with small children. The room was clean, well-appointed and a good size. The pool in particular was a great facility for us, and we probably would have used it more if the weather hadn't been so good. Slight sleepers may have found the traffic noise disturbed them but the double glazing was efficient and this didn't affect ... Read review

" a happy valentine "
Review of Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh by ffoeg

Advantages: close proximity to centre of city and public transport system.
Disadvantages: front facing rooms could be a little noisy from the busy road outside.

spent 3days at the carlton around valentines day . Having read that the front rooms of the hotel can be a little noisy from traffic etc. I phoned reception a couple of days before, and asked if we could be allocated a rear facing room--- This was duly done with no problem. The room itself was of a good size, with a small sitting area, and a good sized bathroom. the twin beds were very comfortable. The inclusive breakfast was of a good quality and ... Read review
