Review of Apex International Hotel, Edinburgh by
Lelo
Advantages: Centrally located
Disadvantages: could be better for 4 stars hotel
...overlooking the Edinburgh castle.
The Apex International hotel has two restaurants, one on the ground floor and another one, the Heights, on the 5th floor, overlooking the castle. The food at the Heights is refined and well cooked, Scottish cuisine at its best, and it can claim a AA Rosettes certificate. Although the food was good I wasn't impressed by the restaurant's atmosphere. The room was a square box with no much decoration or colours, used ...

Howard's End...
Review of Howard, Edinburgh by
carlamity
Advantages: pure luxury, personal butler
Disadvantages: are there any?
This Boutique hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh's NewTown, only minutes from Princes Street. Originally individual townhouses, the Howard is housed in a beautiful Georgian building.
A stay in one of the junior suites began with the personal butler taking luggage upstairs and introducing us to the suite. The suite itself was made up of a slightly raised bedroom area, a sitting room area and one of the biggest bathrooms i have ever seen.
... ...had a deep bathtub, double vanity, bidet and toilet, and a walk in shower big enough for two that not only sprayed from above, but also had high power "sidestream" jets of water.
One of the huge advantages that the Howard has over other city centre hotels is the fact that it provides private parking at no extra cost - not that a car is necessary (with princes street just a five minute walk away).
While it isn't cheap, the Howard is worth it - the ...

Review of Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh by
helen52
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
The Norton House Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh about 2 miles away from the airport, and a 20 min (£8) cab ride into town. It has lovely grounds, which are great for walking or early morning jogs! The rooms in the main house are very spacious, with antique walnut furniture and subtly traditional furnishings. Bobbi Brown toiletries and fresh shortbread cookies and free sweeties, add to the charm. The restaurant serves excellent scottish ...

The Marriott - More Rabbit than Sainsbury's!??!
Review of Edinburgh Marriott Hotel by
carcraig
Advantages: Exceptional Customer Service, Location, Free Parking, You can use your Tesco Vouchers
Disadvantages: Slightly Pricey compared to Travel Lodges etc
...as a base for visiting Edinburgh Zoo and Deep Sea World.
Location
The hotel is located on the western edge of Edinburgh, on Glasgow Road, a mere two miles from the airport, and only 4 miles from Edinburgh city centre. It has ample free on-site parking and is just off the A8. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the Gyle Shopping Centre.
The bus-stops outside the hotel are frequented by a number of buses bound for both the city centre and ... ...located for getting in to Edinburgh city centre and is extremely close to the Zoo. The room layout was perfect for a family with small children. The room was clean, well-appointed and a good size. The pool in particular was a great facility for us, and we probably would have used it more if the weather hadn't been so good.
Slight sleepers may have found the traffic noise disturbed them but the double glazing was efficient and this didn't affect ...

Apex City Hotel
Review of Apex City, Edinburgh by
blaaboy
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Business like feel - possible noise from nearby pubs.
The Apex city Hotel is the most central of the three Apex hotels in Edinburgh. Situated in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle and across from the lively Grassmarket. The Apex City is perhaps most suited to the business traveller. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, if perhaps unattentive. Had requested a top floor room as noise can be an issue due to the prevalence of pubs across the road - instead was placed at the rear of the hotel. Very quite indeed, ...
