A great hotel to stay at when visiting Edinburgh

Advantages: Plenty to do and see, within walking distance
Disadvantages: None

...book a room via the Holiday Inn Express website, as there are often cheaper rates available. Also I am a member of their Priority Club Rewards scheme which gives you points for every stay, which you can save up and redeem for free nights at any of their hotels. I have had a few free nights over the years, and am about to redeem another. Being a member of this scheme also entitles you to priority check in , extended check out times, comlimentary newspapers ...
...you via email. It is completely free to join and a great scheme. All details can be found online at HiExpress.co.uk. I last visited in February where I paid £35 for a double room for myself and partner - bargain! I always find that these hotels are clean, modern and comfortable with Continental Breakfast included in the price , you really can't go wrong. This particular hotel is situated on Ocean Drive, Leith, which is an area of Edinburgh which ...

Review of Holiday Inn Express, Edinburgh Leith

Comfy rather than prickly, but not perfect.

Advantages: Clean, nice, good location
Disadvantages: Breakfast wasn't great, heating nearly cracked my face

...Thistle is part of the King James Mall complex. This is at one end of Princes Street, the main road in the "New Town" of Edinburgh. It is very close to Waverley station and was very easy to find, although we had to ask a French guy running a stall outside the Mall where the entrance was. Although to be fair, we were very drunk by this point, having travelled up on the train with a bottle of vodka. The main disadvantage to the location of the hotel ...
...in Edinburgh is uphill from the hotel, so even though it is quite centrally located, going anywhere did feel like a bit of a mission to me. Appearance In a town full of history, The Thistle is part of a complex that represents a less shining period of British architecture, being a fine example of concrete Brutalism. Basically it's a box on top of the Mall with large square windows. Inside, an effort has been made to give the Thistle the ...

A hidden treasure

Advantages: Plenty of space with a fab view
Disadvantages: Not so easy to find

...is well worth it!!!! HOLYROOD apartHOTEL overlooks Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh and is very close to the new Scottish Parliment making it only a few minutes in a taxi from Princes Street. So the location is excellent, especially with so many pubs and entertainment only a few minutes away. You could easily drive past the HOLYROOD apartHOTEL but a call to reception soon pointed us in the right direction and straight into the hotel car park. The car ...
...the mod cons you would require - TV, Video, CD Player, Full Kitchen with Washing Machine & Dishwasher........ The list goes on.................. HOLYROOD apartHOTEL isn't very big with only 41 bedrooms, but I would recommend anyone to stay here while visiting Edinburgh - it's just like home from home. ...

How George let me down

Advantages: Position Position Position
Disadvantages: rooms are shabby

...been working in Edinburgh during the week for the last three weeks and because I have been on a project budget I have settled for the basic but adequate service of the Holiday Inn express at Picardy Place. However an opportunity came up for me to bring my wife for two nights and so I decided to impress her with a swanky four star hotel in the centre of town and I booked Thursday and Friday night in the George Intercontinental Hotel on George Street. ...
...hotels including intercontinental. Through the website www.ichotelsgroup.com I managed to book Thursday night for £85 for B&B and Friday night £95 b&b which for two people in a Capital city centre hotel I think is very reasonable. This is the room including breakfast charge, not per person! I’d been inside the hotel during my work visits although I’d never stayed there. However I was impressed enough with the staff attention and facilities in the ...

The Murrayfield Hotel

Advantages: close to Murrayfield stadium
Disadvantages: unprofessional staff lack of cleanliness

...I had booked tickets to the Scotland V Ireland rugby game at Murrayfield unfortunately due to the foot and mouth outbreak this trip was postponed until September. We had booked our tickets and a 2 night stay with dinner bed and breakfast at the Murrayfield Hotel, for a family of four this cost around £70 pp per night there where no child reductions due to it being a rugby weekend and this included a matchday programme for all members of the party. ...
...we arrived we where given the keys to our rooms. Our bedroom was comfortable but the bathroom floor was not the cleanest which I put down to the maid having overlooked as previously we had not had any complaints. However on further inspection there where quite a few cobwebs in the room which led us to believe that the room had not been cleaned thoroughly for quite some time. Now I realise certain times of the year the Edinburgh hotels are very busy ...
