Prestongrange Dining
Review of Prestonfield House, Edinburgh by snowbird123

Advantages: Opulent, flavoursome, hedonistic, marvellous
Disadvantages: Having to leave it when you could stay forever

...AA and more. The opulent Prestonfield House is simply one of Edinburgh and the UK's finest destinations for fine dining, afternoon teas and hotel accommodation. Friends of mine recently arranged a celebration tea there and were impressed by the ambience and lavish levels of service. They sampled the 'Tea House' , set in a formal rose garden within the grounds. Privacy was theirs as they indulged in a heady selection of teas, coffees, sandwiches ...
...champagne. Prestonfield offers a fine selection of eating options. Rhubarb is the eccentrically named fine dining venue set in two over the top Regency rooms. It is the latest venture of James Thompson whose 'The Witchery' with it's rather Gothic setting close to the Castle and romantic candlelit tables, is of course an established Edinburgh dining legend. Expect to sample the finest Scottish ingredients, such as succulent Angus Lamb. For added ... Read review

A tabernacle of terror
Review of Jekyll and Hyde by IanRThompson

Advantages: Atmosphere
Disadvantages: none

...what is essentially a Dr Jekyll museum. Well recommended. This has to be my most favourite pub in the UK. If I lived in Edinburgh I wouldn't be out of this place. It won't appeal to everyone but tough. It appeals to like minded people so that makes it absolutely perfect. ... Read review

The Three Ugley Sisters Maybe...
Review of The Three Sisters by polli

Advantages: It's in Edinburgh
Disadvantages: expensive, loud, dirty, obnoxious

...write this review after reading the only one done on The Three Sisters so far. After all, the public deserve to know the truth! The Three Sisters is huge, yet it is always stuffed to the gills at the weekend. It also has an air about it that reminds me of obnoxious football hooligans. Basically, you'll love it if you're idea of a night out consists of waiting in a queue for an hour in the freezing cold (it is in Edinburgh) just to get in, then trying ...
...then struggling your way to the bar to pay double the price that you would, for example, down the road in The Holyrood Tavern (highly recommended, they even have good music), and then return to your chums only to not hear a word they say as the music is so loud. It does have a fairly basic beer garden, but it's right next to a reasonably busy road so it's not very pleasant even in the summer during the day. If you want a good beer garden go to the ... A Little Slice of Italian Hospitality
Review of Guilianos, Edinburgh by AndrePaul

Advantages: A rare kind of service
Disadvantages: Decor

Mr Guiliano as he's known to his friends is a local Italian businessman who runs his own very special restaurants. My expereince is with the Guiliano's at the top of Leith Walk opposite The Edinburgh Playhouse. For that reason it is the number one choice for theatre go-ers and can get very busy on show nights (especially at weekends). Should you manage to secure a table, first impressions may be tainted by the decor which is in need of either some ...
...will soon be over-looked as you are presented with a fantastic menu in both wine and food. You should keep in mind that your menu is being cooked by mainly an Italian workforce and uses some rather unique and delicious recipies. It adds to the expereince! Your service will be of the highest standard; welcoming, warming and somewhat of an adventure in itself! You may even eat alongside many performers at The Edinburgh Playhouse, who often chose ... A traditonal Scottish Restaurant
Review of MacKenzies Restaurant, Edinburgh by Groovee

Advantages: Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere
Disadvantages: expensive, can get busy

Mackenzies Restaurant is set in a cottage style house and is in the heart of Colinton Village near Redford Barracks. You go right into the village and just opposite the traffic lights, there is a row of shops and MacKenzies is right at the top! MacKenzies is named after henry Mackenzie who is was the Edinburgh Born writer and Lawer who lived in the cottage next to the restaurant! The restaurant is a brightly yet dimly lit restaurant! As you go ...
...one. The menu in Mackenzies depends on when you visit. last night they were doing a Christmas Menu for £25.95 per person. This included a starter, Main Course, Pudding, and coffee and mince pies and little oranges. The choices were a wide variety and there was melon, wild mushroom tartlet, soup and Salmon. The main courses included Fillets of Lemon Sole, Traditional Turkey and trimings, Duckling done in a honey and orange jus, steak and A vegetable ... Read review
