This Febuary just gone I was lucky enough to jet off to NYC with my school. We stayed at a hotel just off of times square, it was a great hotel (considering it was 2 stars).
Rooms: Although they weren't huge, they were just about the right size. With two double beds, a big cabinet with a TV in it, bedside table and a chair there was still room for 3 of us girls and our gigantic luggage! The room was quite dark luckily the lamps could be turned quite bright. now importantly the beds..... they weren't actually like sleeping on a slab of concrete, I actually enjoyed sleeping in them and also they were very spacious so with me and my friend in there, there was still lots of room. Also you wouldn't have to be cold in that new york winter because I found the bedding was quite think. The bathroom wasn't exactly huge so it made getting dressed in there quite hard, but the shower and basin were both clean. Although the toilet scared me because it made the loudest flushing sound I have ever heard, it was almost as bad as the loos on the aeroplane! They had hairdyers in the bathrooms but I didn't find it great so I suggest taking your own and take a travel plug.
Cafe Edison- this was alright if you have been to anywhere else in America then you will notice it wasn't the nicest of food, and after eating in there for 3 days I was glad when I got back to England to have a proper breakfast. It was good value for money because of the amount you got for the price but I would have preferred to eat outside of the hotel.
The lobby looked very posh and after we had been stuck on the tarmac for 3 hours, we were all kind of gobsmacked to see so much space. It was quite open and the staff behind the desk were very friendly to us all.
I found the staff were all really nice and they were very willing to help us if we had any problems.
The location of the hotel was fantastic because you literally walked less than 10 seconds and you are in times square. (One of the most fantastic places I have ever been to!). A suggestion: if you go out of the back of the hotel (so you come out to the side with beauty and the beast) if you turn right a few doors down there is a pizza place that will deliever to your room, so if you have just had a tiring day its a good idea. Plus they have the most gigantic pizza ever, I couldn't even bite into the pizza because it was that big!
In the hotel they also had a bar and a resturant but I never got the chance to go there (but two of our teachers experienced the bar!). Also in the lobby there is a shop which sells lots of "I love NYC" products and they also sell lots of sweets and drinks.
In the rooms there are no safes but down in the lobby there is a place where you can get security boxes for free, me and my friends had one together (and they trusted me with the key!)
Overall I thought it was a great hotel especially the location! Although I'm not sure what it did cost I don't think it was too expensive and it was a value for money.
