Exciting Egypt!!
Review of General: Egypt by rhinoklo

Advantages: cheap, only 5 hours away, amazing weather, amazing sites!
Disadvantages: heat (for some may be disadvantage), annoying hagglers

Me and my partner visited back in June this year for a week: we bought the whole package on Ebookers for just under £400 each which included flights and all inclusive accomodation. We flew with Monarch and had no problems at all with the check in, flight or baggage collection. We chose to stay in the Hilton's Sharks Bay Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh. The hotel was lovely: it had 4 swimming pools, its own private beach and hosted alot of activites for ...
...day with a buffet breakfast in the hotel resturant and they provide a wide range of food from cakes and doughnuts to a traditional english breakfast! We would then make our way down to the pool and grab a couple of sunbeds and spend the morning soaking up the VERY strong rays! (Defnitely have your factor 30 at the ready!) Once the heat got too much, it was nice to jump in the pool and cool off with a beverage at the pool bar! We found ourselves to ... Read review

Time for a full body detox? maybe taba's ur thing
Review of Taba, Egypt by gr33narrow

Advantages: beautiful, peaceful, private and reguvinating
Disadvantages: none existant night life shopping, and travelling to and from

Ever looked at a postcard of a beach and thought id love to be there, well this is one of those beaches; clear, clean, beautiful blue water, and beautiful sand. And if privacy is your thing they well this is definitely for your thing, i am one to enjoy kicking back with a great novel and relaxing, and this was definitely what i got from Taba. Almost felt like i had my own strip of beach that i could walk up and down and meet the occasional friendly ...
...a but. It is not all great, the downsides to this resort; firstly its a resort so as you can imagine there is a lack of culture and native people, so if your going to do a little historical traveling then this is a pass. Also the food is well, not for everyone,i have a mother from Egypt, yet i still found it difficult to enjoy the food. ... Read review

Hurghada, try to get snowed in here...
Review of Hurghada (Egypt) by GerlofL

Advantages: Always sunny, great people, beautiful surrounding.
Disadvantages: Quite costly, too commercial to some peoples taste.

...you might make. ---------Introduction--------- Hurghada is a coastal town in Egypt, that stretches for about 30 miles along the shore, but does not really go deep into the desert, a perfect town for tourism, and the battle for pieces of private beach by hotels have made this town so wide I think, because offering your guests a calm spot on a private beach, how is that not attractive right? I have been in the town, during Ramadan, I have been coraldiving, ...
...in the greatest hotel you can get for your money. -------------Going There-------------- Flying from the Netherlands, and ofcourse that gives trouble if you do NOT have a passport, which, at that time, I did not. Egypt is in Africa, and you should be well aware of that. First of all, you will need an injection, because getting sick there is not too hard. After alot of hassle, rebooking ( we missed the flight ) and going abroad to fly the day after ... Read review

Sailing Through The Desert
Review of Abu Simbel (Egypt) by mornev

Advantages: Winter sunshine combined with culture and comfort
Disadvantages: Terrorist threats can deter some visitors but the Egyptians are security aware

...statues of Ramesees 11 at Abu Simbel. Once the High Dam was built, an amazing feat by Soviet engineers, the Nubian Desert began to slowly fill with Nile waters, an estimated time of six years, when the Egyptian government sent out a worldwide plea for help as the lake was forming faster than at first thought and it was evident that the Temple at Abu Simbel would be swallowed up by the rising waters. An international team of around three thousand ...
...several ancient temples, before reaching Abu Simbel where we were to stay for two nights then on our return to Aswan we would visit more ancient monuments on the other side of the Lake. The gradual build up to the main event, our arrival at Abu Simbel, was in itself exciting. The scenery once we set sail was beautiful. The blue waters of Lake Nasser were set in sharp contrast to the surrounding mountainous desert on either shoreline. All the large ... Read review

Brayka Bay Reef Resort
Review of Marsa Alam (Egypt) by jezza22uk

Advantages: Fantastic for diving/snorkling
Disadvantages: Very few other attractions

...else to do. Marsa Alum town consists of one main street with a few souvenier shops - beware shop owners trying to charge excessive amounts for items to purchase - barter with them or walk away. That also goes for the hotel complex - one persistant guy trying to sell you massage treatment who wont take no for an answer. There have been many complaints about him & I really don't see him holding down the job for much longer. Try to book as a package ...
...& therefore had to pay an entry visa $15 each & arrange our own transfers. Be aware also that there were no taxis outside the airport so we had to blag a lift with a tour bus & pay €30 for the journey to the hotel. It's near impossible to arrange transfers from the UK so if you are in this situation I suggest contacting the hotel & arrange for a taxi to meet you. Note also the hotel has no facility to obtain cash. For this you need to arrange a ... Read review
