Private Practice

Advantages: Good character dynamic, interesting cases
Disadvantages: None

For fans of Grey?s Anatomy this is a must for you. Private Practice is an American drama show shown in England on Living TV on Thursday nights. It?s a spin off from the very popular medical drama Grey?s Anatomy. It is now in its second season. The show revolves around Dr Addison Forbes Montgomery. If you watch Grey?s Anatomy you will know that she is the ex-wife of Derek Shepherd who worked at Seattle Grace hospital with him and Meredith for a time. She is one of the top neonatal surgeons in the country and when she is offered a job by her old friend Naomi she moves out to California to begin working at a health clinic in Santa Monica. The show thus follows her move to the clinic and the new environment she finds herself in. When this show first started I have to admit that I didn?t really love it. I love the energy of Grey ...

A boozy and more weekend in Gothenburg

Advantages: Things to see, Things to do, The women
Disadvantages: Beer not cheap!, Vodka not cheap!, None!

I guess Gothenburg might not seem like the ideal weekend destination for a trip with the lad's but let me reassure you it would be one to remember. Now I have to be honest here, as I am a bit of a Jackal and Hyde character when it comes to weekend trips away. First off you can go by ferry from Newcastle or you can fly. We did the latter. My advice is try and get the cheapest flight possible and then just have a go at knocking some money off at Priceline (www.priceline.co.uk) - it worked for us. Anyway what to see and do and drink. We arrived around tea on the Friday night and headed to our hotel where we picked up our Gothenburg Card's (see ...

Private Peaceful

Advantages: Beautifully written, fantastic story, a very powerful ending
Disadvantages: A shocking ending

Michael Morpurgo was born in 1943, he attended schools in London, Sussex and Canterbury. He went on to London University to study English and French, he started teaching in a primary school in Kent. It was while he was there that he discovered what he wanted to do. "We had to read the children a story every day and my lot were bored by the book I was reading. I decided I had to do something and told them the kind of story I used to tell my kids - it was like a soap opera, and they focused on it. I could see there was magic in it for them, and realised there was magic in it for me." Private Peaceful is a novel about World War 1. I am quite interested in WW1 and 2 so when I see a novel set in one of these time periods I often take a closer look? Private Thomas ("Tommo") Peaceful is recalling his childhood from those terrible ...
