Elba Sara, Fuerteventura

I stayed here at the end of May 2007. Having read some good and some very bad reviews I was a bit concerned about what I would find.
What a pleasant surprise!
The hotel is modern spacious and clean. It is a bit remote and would not suit everyone but it suited me for my week of peace and quiet!
Apparently all rooms in this hotel overlook the sea! Can't confirm that but looking at the design of the hotel I'm sure it is the case. The hotel is set right on the beach with just a walkway between that and the beach.
It's location is some way out of Caletta itself which would not suit everyone. It has a shopping centre next door which is mainly full of clothes shops but also has a EuroSpar which is apparently the cheapest in the area. Also a good selection of bars, bowling alley and cinema. Burger King also in this centre. For the children there is the only McDonalds on the island just up the road.
The pools and area are clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds to spare but that didn't stop people getting up at the crack of dawn to lay out their towels!
I stayed on a half board basis and the food was good although may get a bit repetitive after a couple of weeks. I have never seen a choice like it for breakfast. Along with the usual cereals, rolls, cheese ham etc there was full breakfast items, eggs of every variety and even someone to make an omlette of whatever you chose! Toasters to help yourself and the usual tea coffee etc.
Dinner was the usual cold salads, choice of two types of fish cooked to your order and two meats similarly cooked, lasagne, pizza etc etc. If you could not find something you liked then you really must be a fussy eater. Can't speak for lunchtime but lots of people there were all inclusive and I never heard any complaints.
Service was good with all the staff being friendly and pleasant. Reception were helpful and efficient. The only criticisms from my point of view were the rooms whilst large and modern were not cleaned to the standard I would expect and the drinks in the bar were very expensive.
As said it is pretty remote and that did suit me for the week.
However if you are going with teenagers beware they will probably be bored rigid. Nothing for them to do. A good 20-30 mins walk into Caletta although down the beach path is not the sort of walk you want to make too often.
An hotel well suited I would say to couples with young children who want to be all day in the pool or beach and have the kids club and childrens disco or to older couples who want to rest. That said I am neither of these things but I enjoyed it.
