Eldon Square is where most of Newcastle's shops can be found. It has two main entrances: one opposite McDonald's on Northumberland Street, and one right next to Grey's Monument, though you can also enter it through Topshop, Boots and a few sneaky little entrances that I can't always find. Once you're in anyway, there are loads of shops in there, probably about a hundred but don't quote me on it. For example, there is a La Senza, Topshop, Levi's, Marks and Spencers, River Island, Claire's Accessories, Faith, Repubic, USC, many phone shops etc., as well as the biggest leisure centre in Newcastle: Eldon Leisure Centre. There is also a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut Express, as well as Gregg's and a fish and chip restaurant, so you can eat between shops. So why do I like Eldon Square? Because I like shopping of course. My favourite clothes shop is River Island, which you can find easily in Eldon Square, and although my favourite other store is HMV, this is a stones throw away from the Northumberland Street entrance. However my favourite part of Eldon Square is Eldon Leisure Centre where I have my gym membership. They have a gym which includes treadmills, crosstrainers, bikes, rowing machines and weight machines, as well as a sauna, showers and changing facilities. There are also many rooms where you can take classes in yoga, aerobics etc. and you can play many sports such as squash and boulles. There's also a small cafe.
Below Eldon Square is Eldon Square Bus Station, where you can take buses to most parts of the north east, and there is another bus station outside Marks and spencers where most other buses in the region go from. Eldon Square is also very near to Haymarket Metro Station at the top of Northumberland Street, and there is an entrance to Monument Metro Station in the shopping centre itself. From either of these stations you can get to Newcastle Central Train Station, newcastle airport, the coast, Gateshead and Sunderland, as well as many stops in between.
Eldon Square is currently open from 9am-6pm everyday, though this may change after the christmas period.
I quite like Eldon Square though it's a while since I've been. I think I might make a trip there soon. Good review. Jules x

Advantages: Great place to meet up with people or to chill out mid-shop! Disadvantages: It's not Greek? Other than that, nothing else springs to mind....
