Elen's Castle Hotel, is situated in North Wales.... Dolwyddelan, Snowdonia National Park LL25 0EJ, Wales
I stayed at Elen's Castle for 3 nights, and for a 3 star hotel, it was pretty good and worth spending the money.
To start with, the rooms were satisfactory. To be honest, they were slightly damp and cold, but for one suit (a family room) there was a double bed, a single bed and a bunk bed...so it was suitable for up to 6 people.
The double room contained the double bed itself, a TV and a DVD player, two chairs, a kettle and some confectionary. There wasn't an interesting view from the window, but was surely refreshing after a tiring day.
The single room also contained a TV, but no DVD player, a sink, a wardrobe and some more confectionary for your tea or coffee.
There was another spacious room which contained a bunk bed; the top was a single bed, but the bottom was a double bed. This room also contained a TV and DVD player, a wardrobe and some extra confectionary.
On the left of the bunk-bed room, there was a bathroom...although it was slightly tight and squashed it was clean. There was a sink, toilet and a shower. The shower contained a water softner, so there wasn't any need to put shampoo on after. The water softner left my hair soft, and knot-free.
Moving on from the rooms, the food was really nice. The breakfast though, was definately the best part...it was a proper cooked breakfast. Being vegetarians, i didn't think there would be much variety, but i was wrong. The dinner was also really good and well cooked; the deserts however, were extraordinary. One bite of a rasberry cheesecake felt heavenly, i don't think i'll find such a perfect cheesecake anywhere else. I did't eat lunch in the hotel, so i can't really comment on that...but i'm sure it would have been just as good as the breakfast and dinner.
The staff were incredibly friendly, we became quite good friends after the first meeting. They also lend DVD's for free, so you could chill and relax at the end of the day - though obviously it had to be returned as soon as possible. The cooks were also very polite and friendly and fulfilled every need...there was no lacking and it was just a friendly environment all around.
I surely recommend it to families....but it is suitable for anyone of any age. There are lots of attractions and things to do. Personally i'd say CLIMB MOUNT SNOWDON!! It is great fun, and great excercise and just generally something you can't do on every holiday. The people are friendly around the area, and even away from the area.
