As a frequent visitor to Dublin (my husband and I have been every year since 2001), I feel like I've eaten in most of the restaurants in the city centre, but every year we make at least one trip to the Eliza Blues restaurant.
Every time we've been here we have been seated in a different place - ranging from near the window to on the slightly raised platform a the back. Each location has been wonderful for different reasons and we've had no complaints in that respect. Each time our waitress has introduced herself promptly and offered us a pre-dinner drink from the extensive menu. They have an excellent selection of wines, beers and spirits as well as liqueurs for after dinner. We have sampled a number of their bottles of wine and have never had a bad bottle, always thoroughly enjoying our well-priced choice.
The food has always been superb. The following is a selection of the types of dishes we have sampled at this restaurant, but we have been many times and therefore have had lots of different meals here. We have had starters ranging from simple prawn cocktails and pate to more exotic king prawns in thai style dipping sauce and foie gras. Our main meals have ranged from large and filling salads, meat dishes including a spectacular duck dish cooked with plum sauce and crispy potatoes and varied vegetable sides. Their vegetarian choices always look delicious too and not just the boring nut cutlets or vegetarian lasagne. They are always inspired menus with, I believe, something for everyone. And desserts? Well what can I say...I specifically remember a dark chocolate tarte with fresh berries and raspberry coulis with was divine and a stunning Tiramisu. My husband often plumps for a cheesecake of sorts or a cheese plate and his choices have always been superb (yes, of course I always nick a morsel of his dessert - it would be rude not to, wouldn't it?!)
The ambience is always lovely, just right for a romantic meal, or a larger get-together with friends. There is always light music playing in the background. Often this music is classical or soft jazz (I hate jazz and yet never get offended by their choice of music!)
A 3 course meal for the two of us with a nice bottle of wine and pre-dinner drinks (and maybe an irish coffee to top it all off) is generally priced at around £50-60 which we consider to be excellent value and certainly better value than some London restaurants we've been to! If you're in Dublin and looking for a quality restaurant to visit for a fun and great-tasting evening, then look no further than Eliza Blues.

Advantages: the food! Disadvantages: often crowded
Having walked past the restaurant a few times, and seen it packed on each occasion, I assumed two things - 1. that it was pretty expensive, from it's Liffey-side location
2. that it was probably unjustifiably so - given that a lot of places in Temple Bar are just that.
When we walked past one day looking for somewhere to have dinner, and saw that it was quiet, we decided to venture in. The service is excellent, a member of staff rushed over to ... ...Portions were large, the bill was quite reasonable (both for the area, and for the quality of the food). It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the only downside I can think of is that it's pot luck whether you can get a table or not, as it also seemed quite busy for breakfast (theres a guesthouse attached to the restaurant). The location is excellent too, with a wide range of pubs situated just around the corner, as well as across the river ...

Advantages: gorgeous decor, central location, friendly staff, exceptionally clean, very reasonable Disadvantages: no restaurant
for many of my favourite restaurants in Dublin including ElizaBlues, but this is essential as the hotel itself does not have a dining room or restaurant, but this brings me neatly onto ......room service.
Room service is the only way to dine at the Morgan - literally! There are no other eating facilities, but to be honest you don't really need it because room service offers everything you could need - wonderful, piping hot, attractive looking and smelling food served on enormous trays direct to your room. Breakfast couldn't be simpler - you just fill in what you would like from the menu (hot or cold food and various juices, teas and cofffees available) along with your room number and what time you would like it (in 15 minute intervals right through the morning) and hang the whole lot on your door. Then hey presto, you are awoken the next ...
