Set in a secluded, sea-front location, Elounda Bay Palace Hotel is a well maintained, friendly and cooperative environment to stay in for a fortnight. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this hotel as it sounded so unbelievable in the brochure that I thought it was to good to be true. However, I was proven wrong, happily!
The Hotel is set in twenty acres of very well maintained gardens that are impeccable. It also has some of the best accommodation and the greatest variety I have stayed in ever before.
LOCATION
The location of this hotel can not be beaten. It is secluded, sea-front and set in twenty acres of some of the best kept gardens in the hotel market! The general impression it gives off is top class, well maintained and looked after with pride.
The hotel was approximately 2 and a half hours from Herakolin
Airport, which is a minor disadvantage, because after the drive it is well worth the result if you are soaking up sun and this great hotel.
ACCOMMODATION The Elounda Bay Palace offers 275 Rooms in total luxury and features first-class service and unique accommodation. Elounda Bay Palace is divided into 5 different Clubs.
We stayed in the Smart Club: The Smart Club Accommodations are situated in the Main Building and the New Wing. The Smart Club consists of 13 Superior Rooms Garden View for single use, 56 Superior Rooms Garden View, 25 Superior Rooms Side Sea View - available also with connecting door, 23 Superior Double Rooms Mountain View - available also with connecting door and 61 Superior Double Rooms Sea View - available also with connecting door.
The other types of accommodation that were available were the Prestige Club, Elite Club, Silver Club and Exclusive Club.
All the rooms were extremely well refurbished, very tidy and exceptionally clean.
BOOKING
We booked the holiday via the travel agent and chose the hotel seperate before booking it with Thomas Cook in their Travel Shop. We found their customer service extremely helpful and well organised.
HOLIDAY OVERALL
The holiday was relaxing and exactly what I wanted, the hotel was just extra as we did not dream of it being as well refurbished, clean, friendly, cooperative and pure luxury to what it is. It was a fabulous holiday which we needed! Highly recommended.
FOOD AND DRINK
We could choose from a variety of Restaurants in which we experienced a wide and imaginative selection of international and traditional delicacies, accompanied by live music.
The three restuarants were:
Aretoussa Main Restaurant: offers American Breakfast Buffet, Lunch Buffet and Three Course Dinner Menu with salads, starters and dessert Buffet. Serving Greek & International Cuisine.
Ariadne a la Carte Seaside Restaurant: Offers Grills and a la carte Lunch and Dinner. Serving Greek & International Cuisine.
Thalassa Restaurant: Offers Fish delicacies served on the waterfront. To accompany these restuarants three bars are inclusive at the hotel: Sail- in beach bar, Poseidon Pool Bar, Erota Lounge Bar.
FACILITIES
Although some facilities were costly, they were all well monitiored and staffed, clean, well maintained and offered good all round fun!
The following activities were included: Water sports Center, scuba diving, sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing, One outdoor and indoor Seawater Swimming Pool, One children's freshwater Pool, Children's supervised animation program, Five floodlit TennisCourts, Basket & Volley Ball court, Bridge lounge, Table Tennis & Billard, Shopping Arcade, Sightseeing Excursions & Travel Info Desk, Theme Nights: Greek Night, Lobster Night, Cuban Night.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
All the staff: recpeiton, cleaning and waiters at the hotel were friendly, family friendly, cooperative and very helpful. It was a pleasant welcoming atmosphere and you could easily feel at home at this hotel as what it was offering was just purely high class, great standard accommodation for a fantastic holiday!
This is my final "Holiday To Crete" Review (number 3) so please read my other two: Holiday to Crete Review 1 -The Airline (Thomas Cook Airlines) and Holiday to Crete Review 2 - The Book I read (Stormbreaker - Anthony Horowitz)
Thanks! Charlie.
