Good gambling times in San Juan

Advantages: close to the beach, casino in the hotel, clean and friendly
Disadvantages: bus or taxi ride to the old San Juan, beach too small

This is a review of Radisson Ambassador hotel in Condado, San Juan in the island of Puerto Rico. I have just visited this beautiful island on a short vacation - I was there for 5 days. The flight from New York was about 4 hours. The First Impression: When I first arrived in Condado which is a hotel area of the city of San Juan on the north part of the coast, I was a little dissapointed. The neighbourhood of the hotel looked a bit dingy and run down. I took a short walk to the beach which is a block away and the street was dirty, old rusty cars parked on the street - you get the picture. The beach turned out to be tiny, nothing to shout about. Review of Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel & Casino, San Juan

Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room
Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view. THE HOTEL The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in ...

Review of Holiday Inn Alicante ? Playa de San Juan, San Juan de Alicante

Castilla Hotel Alicante Playa San Juan

Advantages: close to the beach
Disadvantages: service poor.

My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a cockroach of the sort of proportions which might have got it some extra work in the film "Alien". The cleaning staff and indeed all the female staff working in the hotel were helpful and efficient, pleasant to talk to and always wore a smile. Anything else? hmmm the lifts worked! None of the male staff measured up to the female. Surly, unhelpful and distant are the kindest words I can find. The food was poor - it was never served warm. Maybe it is a Spanish tradition to serve mashed potato and vegetables cold. If so it is not one that I have encountered before. The shops in the area ...
